Police had a cyclist pulled over at this intersection as I rolled through this evening (and I was forewarned by Hozn…thanks!). I spoke to this cyclist afterwards, and she told me the officer said that a resident adjacent to the intersection has video of cyclists blowing through the stop signs, so, the police are going to be present there for a while until things calm down. Fortunately, the cyclist I spoke with only got a warning and not a ticket. So, be discrete as you ride through this intersection.

Maybe ride through that intersection with both hands up and middle fingers extended? I don’t know. I’m lame. And old. :

I realize that it would be counterproductive to ask, but I wonder how much ACPD has done in response to the two assaults nearby on the W&OD. Perhaps the neighbors haven’t complained though.

ArlNow has a little blurb in its morning notes about a cyclist who ran a red light and then ran from the police. Predictable comments, of course. People complaining about cyclists as if driver behavior were not equally (more so) a problem. I don’t mind much if they want to enforce some traffic laws for cyclists, and I think the cyclist trying to get away is a bad idea, but given all the death and carnage caused by poor motorist behavior, the comments are a bit much.
