    Belated 2/19 my bike leaning against “Flow” at the Shirlington Library in Arlington VA.

    Flow was created by Erwin Redl specifically for this Shirlington Library. A sixty-four-foot band of light appears to travel gradually up the library’s facade. Visible at a distance, this movement invites our approach.

    Once we enter the library, three shorter panels of flowing blue light along the exterior garden wall entice us farther into the space. Visiting at different times of the day reveals the varying ways Flow interacts with its urban environment. The title and movement of the work may suggest the flow of water, words, or visitors.
