Pointless Prize: Vehicle ABCs
Rules:
1. Find and photograph the below ABC vehicles WHILE on a bike ride. Some are easy to find and others will not be.

2. Bike does not have to be in the photo, but please only submit photos of vehicles found on a bike ride.. Be safe!!! Photos do not have to be in your Strava feed but more people know how to use Strava. Use HASHTAG #abc in your Strava Ride Title to appear on the FS2023 #abc leaderboard. I will try to keep track here:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1DrZ93VMgxUtp69obUF9P8sBxnKOcHDqolE5Ohq1awWY/edit?usp=sharing

3. Post to the forum (directly or through Tapatalk–hope you are better at that than I am). Photos [low resolution please] must be posted in order A-Z (so that means if you find a Kia on day 1 of your search, it behooves you to wait and post it after you find the vehicles for “A” through “J”

4. Posts must have the photos labeled with the correct letter(s) in order. You may post all 26 at once in order or post in order over time (one or several at a time). Only one photograph allowed per letter. [low resolution please]

Examples to clarify #3 rule: Cannot post “B” vehicle before “A” vehicle is found or you won’t be able to post A. If you post the letter J vehicle but did not post a G, H, and I, you cannot go back (ie incentive to wait to post until you find all letters).

5. CREATIVITY POINTS will be used to break any ties. Here is how to get an extra point or more. You may find the 4+ wheel vehicle (sometimes you will be offered options) OR you may photograph a non-4+-wheel vehicle for a particular letter entry. For example, you see a Hot Air Balloon and prefer to submit that over the “A” is for Ambulance entry. You may do that instead of the Ambulance, but you cannot post that photo for more than one letter (have to find something else for the H and B entries). In other words, get creative but do not post a photo of a different car, SUV, van, truck than that listed.

Game is over on Saturday, March 11. All posts to the forum must be by Saturday, March 11 at 11:59 pm.

PRIZES: the car of your choice!

It’s a moving van. Note the front is a van chassis.
Did you read the side of the van? Peterborough, Ontario.

Tried zooming in on the side. Did not see the Ontario. Have to consult the committee.

bigredboiler please note: Van with Ontario CN plates. Keep looking or invoke rule #5 or wait for the loosening of the rules. I do like the way you think…

Definitely not as cool if forum doesn’t let you see.
Attached zoomed in version. I hypothesize this is as rare (or more rare) of a find in CO as any other van w/Ontario plates.
I’m glad I circled back to see if it really said Ontario. I’ve seen a lot of Uhaul vans…none w/Peterborough, Ontario.

Bonus R for Rusty Car that @Bikingjenn and I found yesterday in Mt Rainier, courtesy of @rodsmith who definitely knows his hood … and where to find a 58-60 Edsel Corsair!

The whole Edsel program was a colossal failure for Ford, costing the automaker an estimated $250-350 million in losses (represented in 1958 U.S. dollars), and given Ford’s significant investment and total confidence that it would be an incredible success, Edsel has become synonymous with the word “failure”.

In truth, apart from some build quality issues, the Edsel wasn’t a horrible car. It offered several innovations, among the most powerful V8 engines in its class, and a long list of available features. Nevertheless, it was ill-timed and most people just couldn’t get past that unusual grille. With many Edsels likely seeing the scrapyard within a decade, and low interest during their more formidable years, very few Edsels survive today.

Jenn – Do you see this is a U-Haul Van from Ontario (w/the zoom photo)?

Will you count this?
Correct, it’s not a license plate, but I think it meets the spirit of the game (find a really rare gem on the road)
How?
1. It’s a van
2. It’s from Ontario
3. It’s even a much rarer find than a van w/ON plates
—- ON has ~9M registered vehicles
—- Vans are ~4% of passenger vehicles (in general) …so ~400k ON vans on the road
—- <150k U-hauls on the road (all sizes)
—- Assuming U-haul vehicles promote each 50 states + 10 provinces equally, there are only ~2.5k ON U-hauls on the road
