Dear Fellow Cyclists:
This is a last-minute reminder for any DC-based locals.
Tonight I have my first big event in my new position as Executive Director of Phoenix Bikes, our annual fundraiser called the Phoenix Bikes Show: Extraordinary Youth. All of three weeks into the job, I’ve had one of the most challenging trial-by-fire experiences of my professional career, but we are poised for a successful event. All we need now is people. If your calendar is open, I’d love to have you join me, our board, and some of the kids from the program at the event.
We work with young people in the community, building bikes and leaders. In addition to participating in our Earn-A-Bike Program and other Phoenix Team activities, our young mechanics join staff and volunteers to serve Arlington’s biking community. They do tune-ups and repairs at low cost to area cyclists, and sell quality used bikes fit for the whole family. The shop is located in Barcroft Park, along the 4 Mile Run and W&OD bike trails.
Phoenix Bikes’ Bike Show: Thursday, April 26 from 7pm to 9pm at 2100 Crystal Dr., in Arlington. Tickets are $30 at the door. More information is available here.
If you can’t join us, please do make a tax deductible contribution! Go to http://www.phoenixbikes.org/ and click on the donate button. Thanks so much.
