Phoenix Bikes to be the featured nonprofit at Busboys & Poets Change the World Wednesdays Event, June 6, 7-8:30pm, at the Shirlington location.

This free monthly public forum showcases the work of local nonprofits and the positive change they inspire in the community of Arlington. The event will feature live discussion, videos, a wheel-building demonstration and original poetry written and spoken aloud by youth in the Phoenix Bikes program.

I’m really looking forward to this and will be there with friends. Phoenix Bikes is a wonderful organization with a fantastic group of kids, and it does a great service for our community.

Please come enjoy a great meal and evening at Busboys and Poets if you can make it on Wednesday. The kids put their hearts into this, and they love bikes and bicycling.

p.s. I just found out that they can clean and lube chains too (at their location, not at Busboys). I might become a regular, just to avoid the messiness. I dream of a while-you-wait business where I could pay a few bucks to have that done (via Parktool method at least) and support a good cause at the same time (although I’d like the option of doing the lube part myself after the cleaning). I think a lot of people in apartments and condos could use something like that.
