    Tomorrow will be the lighting of the National Christmas Tree, so there are going to be road closures affecting downtown DC commuters Thursday afternoon.

    Using the list of roads being closed from the article http://wtop.com/dc/2016/11/road-closures-announced-christmas-tree-lighting/ I made a map of road closures here:

    Also to note from the article:

    The three services also released a list of items that attendees can’t bring:

    Bicycles, folding chairs, balloons, coolers, glass, thermal or metal containers;

    Those looking to try and cut through the closed off area might have difficulty due to the bicycle ban.

    Big shards of glass at the CCT side of Aqueduct Bridge in Georgetown. Was yelling like a lunatic to watch out, but still plenty of punctures down the trail. Cleared up most of it over lunch, but smaller pieces remain. Watch your tires.

    Ick. Any specific suggestions on how to maneuver around the glass…for those of us riding on the Crescent tonight? Is one side of the trail better? It may be hard to see the shards in the dark. Thanks for your efforts to clean it up!

    Straight down the middle is probably best. Stay off the verge, there’s plenty in the gravel. You’ll be able to see it better with your lights than I could during the day. Be careful!

    I noticed some glass sparkles in that spot on Friday night, but didn’t really notice anything this morning. Will keep my eyes peeled on the way home….

    I noticed that too. Wasn’t there early this morning, so I guess it was sometime between then and midday. I’ll head down with a brush when I’ve got a moment tomorrow.
