Ohio Drive from the 395 underpass to Buckeye Dr at Hains Point was milled this morning. There’s slopes, but be careful turning at the corners.

They appear to have finished this and did a great job. While I was riding around Haines Point today the double line was added to the new pavement. I don’t know if they intend to do the next section to the Inlet Bridge.

ParticipantThis morning (7:30ish?) I was heading eastbound on W&OD and at the Little Falls St crossing there were signs up about lane closure ahead. Not yet closed, but there was a van unloading stuff for repairs and there was a lot of wood. Perhaps the were there to repair the wooden bridge between Little Falls and Lee Hwy. I hope they were since the rot holes are deep enough to lose small dogs in.

ParticipantW&OD: Still early in the process, but here are some markers for boreholes to test the soil for the future bridge over Wiehle Avenue…

ParticipantThis trail detour was a bit messy on Saturday morning.

ParticipantThe wooden pedestrian bridge from the parking lot near the Pentagon to Columbia Island is being repainted. To the layperson, it looks like ordinary paint so be careful going through there when it is damp!

ParticipantThere is a water main break along the W&OD at Cedar Lane. Fairfax Water has been on the scene since at least 11 am, however, water is still flowing as of 4:30 pm.

ParticipantThere appears to be some sort of water leak along with a clogged sewer drain on the Custis on the hill between Adams and Cleveland, behind the apartments/condos. Right now it’s just water on the trail, but once temps get below 32, my understanding is that the water may change somehow, perhaps through some sort of magic, I dunno. In this new world we’re in, I’m not sure about all this skience and fakts stuff anymore so maybe it’s not an issue and it won’t freeze.

ParticipantIf you take the bike lanes on Long Bridge Drive northbound, watch for the steel plate at the top of the hill. It is right where the bike lane ends, so if, like me, you are turning to look for motor vehicle traffic as you merge into the general travel lane, you may, like me,not notice the steel plate, and you may, like me, have a bit of a spill.

Hope you’re OK LOTM. Steel plates are awful, especially when unexpectedly damp.

ParticipantOn four mile run just south of Columbia Pike, by the apartments before the tennis courts, I had to swerve around a coconut. A whole one, complete with husk. Like it had fallen out of a tree. I have been on that bit of trail for many years and have not noticed a palm tree. Glad I wasn’t there when it fell out of whatever tree it had been in. Watch out for odd things falling from trees.
