Not sure about this time since you say there was another person in the car, but this seems to be increasingly common with all the Uber drivers trying to locate their passenger to pick up. Driving slow, starting and stopping, and keeping an eye on their phone.
With Mass plates my first thought was they were from out of town and were looking at directions, but we have a lot residents with of out-of-state plates around here so who knows what the cause of their obliviousness was. People looking at phones while driving is a specific fear of mine as a cyclist.

ParticipantSo you know the pair of 90 degree turns to get onto the ramp up to the 14th Street bridge by the Jefferson. I usually take the farther one, in the spirit of keeping to the right. But there was a crowd around the CaBi station, and lots of cyclists in all directions. I took the nearer one, turned a tad too wide and too fast, hit the curb, and the ground leapt up and attacked me.
Only injury (other than to my pride) was minor abrasions to my right palm. Park police gave me a band aid. Bike appears fine.
On 4MRT I passed Dickie, and awning guy, so that was good.

ParticipantOne Hains Point loop (seeing the trees down along the Mall was a bit sad), then out the trail to Bikenetic for some bar tape, which I decided to buy there instead of through the mail. Really great weather for a ride.

ParticipantI was treated to this magnificant view for waiting out a storm the other night before commuting back to home. Good things do come sometimes to those who wait.

ParticipantWell it was another rare sunny day today in Southwest England, so I punched it up the hill on my commute home in time to catch the sunset at the summit of Bristol’s highest point. I was rewarded with the following sights…
The observatory
The world’s first suspension bridge over the Avon River gorge

ParticipantWas pretty nice. Did a few extra miles to pic up tix for X from the State Theater. The legs felt good even with the annoying headwind, but the arms got a little weak and wobbly toward the end, which was odd. Afterward blended a fruit recovery drink with 5 ounces of rum. Sure beats winter.

ParticipantThere was a fatal crash that I passed yesterday, or, passed the accident investigation team, four hours after the crash. This was on Naylor Rd at the top of Good Hope Road, where a car plowed into the back of a Metro bus. At first I thought it was a shooting investigation since it was the same spot that Charnice Milton was killed waiting for the bus last May. While I’m glad it wasn’t a shooting, it’s still a bit disturbing that someone could even get going that fast, along a route I ride twice a day. This is the second very serious accident in two days. Yesterday evening it was a Chrysler 300 and a classic Chrysler Imperial convertible T-bone incident at Alabama and 30th SE.
Watch out for crazy drivers!

ParticipantI believe I saw RCannon sitting near the 4MRT, by the dog park, sketching. It appeared to be a very peaceful activity, so I did not disturb him.

ParticipantWork > 9:30 Club (Dinosaur tics) > Peregrine Espresso (espresso) > MOM’s (groceries/beer) > Galaxy Hut (veggie cheese steak/beers) > Home
Felt like a Friday. Bit slow toward the end as well.

ParticipantWas accidentally 29 miles.
It meant I was late getting the dog on his walk, but it was good for my National Bike Challenge numbers.

Accidentally? Rocking out on headphones (or otherwise in your own world) and missing your turn for a really long time? Following someone (for good or evil purposes) and then had to get home afterwards? Went the wrong way on the trail and didn’t notice for a long time? I know that I have taken a wrong turn on rides when in a new area and have added a couple of miles by not realizing it immediately. You do not state the length of your normal ride home, but as you stated it, it sounds like you added a lot to your commute, not a 1-5 mile oops. So, there must be a story that we are all dying to hear.

Was a bit tongue in cheek. Normal commute is about 9 miles. Went out to Vienna, planning to just see the new trail by the rec center, but was deceived by wishful thinking and a tailwind and the wonderful false reverse flat just past Vienna to going all the way past Difficult Run. Looked at my clock and said holy shite, I need to be home 15 minutes ago to let the dog out, so had to fight the headwind and false flat in a rush when I had already started to bonk.
tl;dr: your “otherwise in your own world.”
In other news, crossing Gallows at rush hour when in a hurry really bites.

ParticipantFun watching the clouds gather on the ride home and pretending that the F150 behind me on Washington Blvd was a Death Eater. Also, wet clothes hanging fail this morning = Weasley smellin jersey.
