ParticipantOur friend does venture further south some nights. This morning the glass is in the underpass at Airport Access Road, along with new bits of torn up paper.
Left message with Jeffrey Hitchcock (at the Tony M. number). Spoke to (a very chipper) person at the 289-2500 general number, who said the park police are in the process of setting up cameras. Spoke to park police who said “we are getting moving.”

Yep. Glass on CC connector overpass bridge at 0830, as well, this Thursday morning.

I also noticed the paper this morning. Had the opportunity to ride MVT yesterday AM (clean) and today. Neither paper nor glass was there yesterday. This is weird.
This has also been brought to the attention of ACPD. I know MVT is not their jurisdiction, but in case things spread to Crystal City streets.

So, this will be resolved sometime by 2019, eh?

ParticipantWere you expecting the same police response to bicyclists wearing headphones and rolling stop signs in olde Towne Alexandria?

ParticipantVery large pile of glass and not just bits, but good size pieces, just north of the north airport overpass, which seems to be the culprit’s preferred location.
Reported to the Park Service maintenance and Park Police, who took my name and number for the first time, so just maybe they’re taking these reports more seriously???Keep up the calls to the Park Police 202 610-7505. The officers I’ve spoken to have been responsive and they’re definitely getting frustrated with the situation (or maybe it’s just the phone calls).

ParticipantI am teleworking today so I didn’t put Bob’s brooms into service. He gave me two so I need to find another sweeper that will haul one around.

I just called about it and the guy re-directed me to the maintenance dept… 703-419-6400 Option #4
Hopefully it will be cleaned up before the commute home. Now back to preventing this in the first place…..

ParticipantGlass breaker seems to be back in action this morning. The airport underpass at Smith Blvd (the underpass at the south end of the airport that was reconstructed last year.)
Spoke to a Park Police officer who said they had done a stakeout ‘and I guess we need to do it again.’
I was wondering why I hadn’t seen any glass for a couple weeks. Guess the park police need to work on their undercover skills and actually catch this person!!!!!!!!!September 14, 2017 at 10:32 pm #1075644Left Field

Guess the park police need to work on their undercover skills and actually catch this person!!!!!!!!!Also, for those who use Holmes Run Trail, at the bridges underneath metro on the lower half after Eisenhower, there has been glass on several mornings. I have pushed it off the trail and called Alexandria police. They said they would monitor. Also, watch out for the pedestrian overpass on Seminary/395. Glass has shown up for the last several weeks. I really don’t get it.

KeymasterHigh Life Low Life is back. 10 am Sunday, Sept 17, first bridge after Gravelly Point heading south. Lots of glass. Miller High Life label w/broken glass still sticking to it right in the middle. All other bridges and underpasses were clean.

Hey, get back to (commuting to) work! And someone else on this forum, you need to get the other broom I gave him to help!
Just because I’m on the other side of the country doesn’t mean I can’t still nag you to help :p

I saw a park police officer photographing some of the broken glass on that bridge this morning. Not sure what they will do with the information, but at least they seem to be documenting the problem to some degree.
