MVT in the vicinity of DCA

Has this come up yet, or has anyone noticed that there seems to be a lot of broken glass in certain parts of the trail recently?

This is the level of glass I expect to see in SE DC, but it seems very out of place on the MVT. Also, it seems to me that most of the glass is in places where the trail has a “backboard”, where for example if a passenger in a car on the GWP tossed a glass bottle, it would shatter against the wall making a bigger mess on the trail.

I just hope this isn’t a thing now.

I suspect there are enough ‘real’ cameras around the airport and Crystal City that they’d be able to figure out who is coming and going to the path in the wee hours pretty fast if there were free donuts involved.

Has anyone talked with the folks running those cameras? I would not assume that people looking for video of wild fauna would want to get involved in police work.

My assumption is those cameras were emplaced by the park police. However, they need to be hidden better if they want to catch Miller lowlife

There were 2 cyclists today around 7:20 AM surrounded by about 3 police cars by the airport exit ramp to GW Parkway (south of the 2 overpasses). They were both standing and neither looked seriously injured or like they were about to get arrested, but I wonder if the large quantity of glass that appeared overnight on the trail just south of there led to an accident or something…

I would have thought maybe it was a bike-on-car accident on the crosswalk, but I didn’t see any cars stopped, and as I said, no one looked hurt…I spoke to another cyclist who was biking by at the same time as me, and neither of us could figure out what had happened.

Maybe they were having a discussion regarding right of way at the crosswalk/stop sign, and the resulting cognitive dissonance required extra backup.

Sorry, forgot to post this sooner, but there was High Life Low Life glass on the MVT bridge going over Four Mile Run on Saturday, Nov. 4, approx. 8am. Anyone else see it or glass in other locations that morning?
