Kenneth Kumpel, a member of NYFD died on 9/11. The memorial monument in his hometown of Cornwall, NY, consists of etched granite, a bronze helmet, and a plaque with a four-foot piece of steel recovered from the towers.
Two of his sons now serve in the NYFD.

During the French and Indian War, General Edward Braddock led British troops through Montgomery Country on his way to defeat at Fort Duquesne (in Pennsylvania). This stone commemorates when they camped at Owens’ Ordinary (now Rockville) on April 20, 1755.

This memorial sign is on W&OD on the western side of the Hunter Mill Rd crossing.

Eddie Hurley grew up in Oakton, VA. He died an untimely death from meningitis/encephalitis when he was 25 years old.
