Plaque commemorating the Herndon Fortnightly Club, started in 1889 by 11 women interesting in studying literature and other subjects. The original building was lost in the 1917 Herndon fire, and replaced by the yellow one in the background in 1927, which opened as the Herndon Fortnightly Library. It was the first lending library in Fairfax County.
