ParticipantYay! Since the ‘other’ Beth isn’t doing her Civil War/History game this year, I’ll have to play along with this one. I’m pretty sure most of mine will be plaques or signs.
Just curious, will a Civil War/historical marker that references one or more people be able to be used? Do we bother posting to this page, or is Strava good enough?
And, thanks for the one a day limit.

ParticipantA monument or memorial is a structure, plaque, statue or building that honors a person, group of people or an event. For example, the WW2 memorial is acceptable as it honors that event. The Japanese-American memorial is also acceptable.

ParticipantShakespeare’s A$$ in Central Park, NYC. From 1864 on the 300th anniversary of his birth. Had to take his backside since there was no name on the front.

ParticipantI probably won’t post many of my picture in here, but this is one that means a lot to Olney, MD. I know it’s not a realy historical of famous figure, but it’s still an awesome memorial.
In Spring 2016, the State of Maryland introduced Noah’s Law to help combat driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol or drugs. This law came into being after a drunk driver collided with and subsequently killed a Maryland police officer. Noah was killed along this stretch of road by a drunk driver while conducting a routine sobriety checkpoint.

Opps. Somehow for this one I couldn’t bring myself to lean my bike on one of the pillars. I should have used the Jersey barrier, but there are three bikes in the 1st Ave bike lane close to E 49th St. teeny, tiny images between the right two pillars.

Participant1/3/2022 – Sal Guarrillo Veteran’s Memorial
This memorial is at 8441 Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood, California. It is named after Sal Guarrillo, who served on the West Hollywood City Council and also served as mayor. The memorial honors all veterans (Sal was a veteran himself, but the memorial is not intended to memorialize him personally; it’s just named in his honor).
