ParticipantMe: Zippy guy on W&OD being all zippy.
You: Guy with electric motor attached to your bike being inconsistently zippy.
Lesson: Please don’t pass using your motor then slow down to like 5mph becuase your “bike” weighs over 80lbs and you have run out of “pedal helper.”
Suggestion: Buy a bike and abide by the “no motorized vehicles” sign on the W&OD. Alternately, buy a bigger battery and just ride the thing like a moped. – SNAKES ALOT!

ParticipantWhen and where did this happen? Hope it wasn’t me… I try not to do that.

ParticipantYesterday and it was on the Custis now that I think about it. Can’t remember what said perpetrator was wearing, vaguely remember jeans though.

Several years ago on the Capital Crescent I passed a dude on a hybrid bike, pulling a cargo trailer, with one of those old-school boomboxes bungeed in the center, blasting “eye of the tiger” full blast as he rode down the trail. It was pretty awesome.
In the early 90’s there was this guy who I would see riding in Mount Rainier / Hyattsville who pulled a trailer with a humongous boom box. I think he lived in or around Queenstown apartments off 34th Street. I’ve spoken to him before but never got his name… The internet was not in full bloom yet then. I wonder where he is these days.

Was he with dreadlocks on a very long homemade bike with space frame and multiple freewheels? I don’t remember the boombox so he maybe a different rider, but I mostly saw him very near the Queenstown area.

ParticipantTo those folks who hang their helmets on their handlebars while riding: you’re doing it wrong.

ParticipantAnd then there is the guy who rides along with the chin strap deliberately unclipped. I suppose a helmet might help a little if an object falls from the sky.

ParticipantAlong those lines:
To the older gentleman that looked sweaty and tired climbing Brandymore Castle Westbound yesterday:
You probably took your helmet off since it was hot and you were sweating, but as you answered your phone, did it ever occur to stop and get off the bike?

Your first line had me worried, then I realized I never take my helmet off… phew!

Why do you hate people who want to keep their handlebars safe?

ParticipantTo the ELITE douchebag that tried to go three wide on the MVT yesterday without calling your pass and ignoring mine while I was passing – sorry you had to marvel at my fabulous fatazz for an extra 15 seconds but that’s the breaks sometimes. You had a bell – ring it.

ParticipantTo the gent riding up CCT this morning wearing the polka dot jersey. Apologies if I am mistaken, but I believe you are in violent conflict with Rule #16.

ParticipantTo the shoaler on 14th St – Good use of hand turn signals, but you should also probably look behind you before crossing two lanes of rush hour traffic to make your left turn. You’re very lucky that cabbie was paying attention when you cut him off.

At least he was riding UP the CCT and not down it to Georgetown, where his wife was waiting with the car to pick him up.
