Can’t see your pics. If they were blocking the bike lane (evil), did they at least have their hazards on (lesser evil)?
BUGGER… sorry.. pics updated! Yes, they did have their hazards on, but probably could have put some pylons out as well, especially as this is on a downhill…. or even better, parked next to the curb!

ParticipantThis morning, I just barely missed a crazy bunny on the Custis with a death wish, a cardinal with a similar wish, and a 545am walk of shame down the Rosslyn hill

You: MICHELLE FREAKING OBAMA. AND BO THE DOG.We started with the intent of a century out to Sugarloaf and back… then we got rained on twice before we reached Rockville and pulled the plug. While trying to add random miles TK suggested we take the CCT up to Bethesda and back. We passed a couple of sets of guys walking together (I remember thinking “aw, that’s nice”) and one large group of people. I didn’t think anything of it until TK said he saw them wearing earpieces. We determined that we should ride a little further past them before turning around so as not to get shot when we went by again. On the way back, sure enough, it was Michelle walking Bo.
Dude. FLOTUS.

Unless they were going to the Starbucks, every building there has a loading dock. And if they were they could have pulled to the damn curb. You were right, and probably way too nice to that guy.

I’m so used to people abusing the bike lane as a loading/waiting area in Clarendon/Courthouse that usually by the time I encounter one I’ve already moved into the traffic lane. That said, kudos to you for actually speaking up and playing the “bad guy” (you know, the one who actually wants to use the bike lane for biking, quite evil in a way). And since there are loading docks (per DaveK’s comment), this is just laziness on the part of the truck driver to park in the middle of the street blocking traffic.

ParticipantLast night I was riding home, it was my first ‘real’ ride to work and back home. I didn’t check the weather. I might as well rode in a swimming pool- no rain gear.
Stopped next to a lone cyclist on Penn ave and 7 st nw. We were the only people on the road (about 10:30pm).
I was a little excited to engage him in a pleasant exchange about the weather and said thee gayest ( and there is nothing wrong with it at all) thing when he looked over at me to acknowledge me: ‘are you as wet as I am?’
I got a weird look and something about the metro running slow and you took off while the light was still red.
Sorry, I did not mean to be weird, just excited about commuting, even in the pouring rain and thats what I was wet from- the rain!

ParticipantMe: Crossing 15th street NW at New Hampshire & Florida with a nice big solid green light letting me know it’s my turn to proceed.
You: Barreling the wrong way down the 15th street hill into the 15th, New Hampshire, Florida, & W intersection, coming to a screeching halt just inches away from t-boning me.
I know you said sorry, but if you’ve made that many dumb decisions to get to the point where you are barreling into an intersection going the wrong way when the cross traffic has a green light, you are clearly aware of how unnecessarily reckless you are being. Saying sorry doesn’t mean crap at that point. On a side note, at least your brakes are squeaky enough to have given me a nice alarm of your idiot self coming towards me.

Definitely made up for the fact that we didn’t get out to Sugarloaf.

Yeah, but maybe it was a hybrid cigarette, so that would be okay.

ParticipantThis guy manages not only to block the Q Street bike lane, but he also leaves the driver side door open for the entire time he’s rummaging through the trunk.

Did you close it for him?

ParticipantTo the guy on a blacked out fixie who (1) shoaled me on Penn at 14th and then couldn’t muster the torque to accelerate through the light, crowding me in the intersection, and then (2) split the lane on the 15th cycletrack and unnerved at least six riders with unsafe passes, I hope you were as uncomfortable as you seemed when you had to wait with me at the next light. I meant what I said, I’m wishing flat tires and thrown chains on you, [anatomy].
