Guess you shouldn’t buy your bike shorts at Lululemon.

Out in NoVA land, it always seems to be either a mercedes or a prius. To the point that if I see either one, I just assume they’re going to do something incredibly stupid.
Today’s Prius drivers are yesterday’s Volvo drivers.

ParticipantMe: Doing laps this morning at Hains Point in the center of the right lane (no cars in the area and two cyclists coming up from the rear)
You: Passing me without a call ON THE RIGHT! WTF? You had a friggin’ lane and a half on my left.

ParticipantYou: Lady in full yellow rain gear and panniers riding one handed east bound on the W&OD near Great Falls Street because you were drinking a full cup of coffee out of a house mug in the other hand.
Me: Coveting your coffee and moxie…. take a bow, that was kinda awesome!April 18, 2013 at 12:40 pm #967615eminva
ParticipantYou: Weather.com
Me: Your obsessive stalker
Me: Why did you lie to me like that? I wouldn’t have been mad, I have a new rain jacket I wanted to show you.
I thought we had a relationship!

ParticipantCan’t remember where on the forum Tim posted about the bike lanes being blocked or the site to upload the pictures to, but spotted this on my way home from HH last night in Clarendon across from Whole Foods (outside the Starbucks). The fact that the driver got upset and questioned why “we” are always causing trouble did not surprise me. The young couple walking their dog that joined in and accused me of harassing the driver really threw me. I was then told “if I don’t want to ride in traffic I should drive a car”… HUH?

In my experience I would also include Lexus SUVs.
For some reason it always seems to be the cars that cost more than I make in a year that are the worst. And Prius’s…those guys are sneaky. Can’t hear them coming at all. I think they’re jealous of bikers’ MPG’s.

Prius’s are the ELITEs of cars.

ParticipantThis morning, mine was the first bike at the bike rack (it usually is). Then, when I went to get my bike this afternoon I was greeted with this…

Unluckily, I did not bring my Mission Impossible rappelling gear for a vertical retrieval, so I had to squeeze through in order to unlock my bike and slowly back out of the space to avoid hitting either of the 2 mopeds (hence why this is a “missed” connection). The silver one’s left mirror was actually taped on, and I almost (by accident, though I wouldn’t have felt too bad about it) knocked it off when trying to access my bike. I growled a little, but then remembered that it’s Friday and I’m off work for the weekend 😎
Also, a statement in general: mopeds at bike racks take up a LOT of space. Look at all the bike slots being blocked by them! I estimate at least 6 bikes could be parked in the same amount of space as these 2 mopeds.

Can’t see your pics. If they were blocking the bike lane (evil), did they at least have their hazards on (lesser evil)?

I’ll never forgot watching the driver of a Prius throw her cigarette butt out of the window.

Participant12,000 SF house up the street from me with two adults and two kids. The mom drives a Prius and noted that she does so to lower her impact on the earth. Her house has 6 heatpumps.
