2) Completely opposite story… The past few mornings riding north toward PA Ave., there’s a REALLY friendly jogger who from the side path actually looks over, has a big smile on her face and lifts her hand above her should to wave at me. She HAS to think I’m someone else right? I mean I appreciate the nice gesture and in return give a smile and head bob but I’m a nobody, and does she do the same for every cyclist she sees? Here’s to hoping she keeps it up when she realizes that we don’t know each other. Haha.
It’s known that doing sports turns women’s on/off switch to on.

“Yo gurl? You ever heard of randoneuring? Yeah, I’m doing a 200k sleaze ride this weekend. No big deal.”

ParticipantOK, one more from last evening’s commute….
On the MVT (of course) right at the overpass for the car traffic connection from Crystal City…
Kudos to the jogger with balls the size of basketballs who pulled a reverse Crazy Ivan! He didn’t cut me off because he failed to look back and see me coming. No, we were coming at each other and he still decided to do a U-turn and cut me off. A reverse frickin Crazy Ivan… maybe a Crazy Gustavo?

You’d be surprised, but spending most of your waking hours planning long bike rides, or most of your weekends actually riding long bike rides is not the turn on you’d expect. The looks my wife gives me when I tell her, no, I can’t help you with that house project next weekend because I have an all-day bike ride are not from the “on” switch.

You just gotta explain that you were born a ramblin man.
There may be a reason that I am unwed.

Or after about the 20 year mark your spouse is glad for some alone time?

ParticipantMe: dropping in on the WABA forums to check new posts and see what’s going on.
You: Freezing Saddles threads as far as the eye can see, like housing developments where there used to be singletrack. Or something.
It’s that time of year, I guess.
Sigh.

ParticipantThe bottom of your sweatshirt and the top of your elastic waist sweatpants and underwear, this morning on the CCT.
I can’t unsee that.

ParticipantToday was the day the German drivers were trying to kill me! Two close calls in Frieberg, first, I signaled a left turn, was in the middle of the narrow road, and a driver still tried to pass me on the left only to turn off the road into a business on the right 100 meters later. 😡
Second was about three minutes later and we are at a stop light across from the Burg, I had signaled for a left turn, but had to stop for a red light, and was about a meter and a half from the center line, a driver pulls up next to us on the right with his left turn signal on. I start across the intersection on the green and sure enough he is turning left. Luckily he didn’t run us over, but he stayed on our butts around the curve, made an unsafe pass into oncoming traffic and then made an immediate right turn! Really????

ParticipantOn Wednesday, I was doing loops on Hains Point and was on the short Buckeye Drive section. A car came the other way (heading southwest while I was going NE) and the driver shouted at me something to the effect that bikes should not be on the road there. There is no sign or road marking which states specifically that bikes are allowed, but there is none that says cars are allowed either.

ParticipantWhen I’m coasting a steep downhill trail because it’s semi-technical with a blind curve and slick wet grass clippings ahead, I suppose I don’t mind that you passed. You rang your tinkly bell so you must know what you’re doing. Fair enough. But after the pass and the technical parts, you can’t be angry that I’m behind you. When you pass me I don’t cease to exist. Unless I’m asleep in philosophy class and this is all a dream on my way to a D.
