Sounds like sooner or later someone is going to be hurt by this bully. I’m not advocating anyone confront him. But if he’s doing this routine every day, a helmet cam video of such bad behavior, a corresponding Strava link showing his speed, and a calm conversation with law enforcement might yield at least a warning.
…or a well placed trail side EMP. See how much energy he has to be an ass after pedaling that tank around a while. Is this a black and yellow E-bike?

ParticipantYeah, just saying he hit the intersection at W&OD and little falls at 30.3mph (exactly) without stopping and nearly got hit by a car. You can see it on that strava link dcv posted. Watched him almost get flattened and he pissed off a walker in the process. I’ve seen him ride like a moron before but finally but witnessed that one and was able to find him on strava flyby. Anyway That guy sucks.

No worries. I was curious to see exactly how “bad” the ride was (was he really going 30 mph or did people just think he was going 30 mph?), so I checked out the data to see what I could decipher. It doesn’t appear to be out of the ordinary compared to fitter cyclists, but to me it falls into the “you might be going too fast for the trail you’re on” category that many pathletes also occupy.

A Google Reverse Image Search using his Strava profile pic identifies him and his employer in downtown DC (via LinkedIn). It should be easy for someone to send him a note should they wish.
His LinkedIn profile claims he is “extremely helpful” and has “strong crisis management skills.” So, should be an easy conversation!!
According to his Twitter, he is an “X-DC bike messenger champ. X-state champ bike racer.” He left out the part about the e-bike.

Are there really that many cyclists holding 30 mph?

Also, this from his Artemis team profile: “Super-commuter, riding 20 miles each way to work up to 4 times a week.”
2016 Miles: 3,651
2015 Miles: 3,049The phrase “up to” is a magical thing.

E-bike rider going about 30 mph last night passing me close without warning on the last downhill on the western end of the Custis: if you want to buzz cyclists at high speed, get a black SUV with MD War of 1812 plates like everybody else.
So the one that hit me (at 3:09) was a stereotype?

Yes, but well earned. I do the vast majority of my riding in Virginia, and it is amazing how much bad driving I see adorned with MD War of 1812 tags.
Black SUVs are a menace no matter what tags they have.

Damn straight! Being savaged on the forum is certainly a fate worse than serious personal injury or even premature death.

I, for one, am always worried about you.

Don’t get me started on any internet claims you’ve made on the speed in which you can solve a Rubik’s Cube…

There’s a few lessons here:
1. Don’t be a dick when you’re riding your bike.
2. If you are going to be a dick on your bike, don’t use Strava.
3. If you are a dick on a bike using Strava, don’t use a profile pic that you’ve used on other sites that include your real name, work history and other information that makes you easily googleable.
4. If you didn’t follow the first 3, don’t post stuff that can be verified as exaggerations at best or things that can easily be ridiculed.
5. Life is much less complicated when you don’t act like a dick.February 10, 2017 at 3:28 am #1065792KLizotte

So whatever happened in the end to the driver who hit you? I know you reported it to the police. Did his/her insurance company ever contact you?
