I much prefer you to be “[w]reckless” than running into the oncoming cyclist!

ParticipantMe: Minding my own business standing in the median of Sterling Blvd right after dawn, you dude with a chip on your shoulder in a white mommy-mobile SUV.
Yes cyclists sometimes run stop signs and yes maybe I did a low speed drift the east side sign but a) it was a divided road with no traffic on my side (which rarely happens there) and b) I was stopped in the median, foot down, waiting for your side’s traffic to clear. Was it really necessary to slam on your brakes, stop in the crosswalk, and scream expletives at me while honking traffic piled up behind you? Believe me, I hate that intersection more than you do…
fuzzy bunnies….

ParticipantMe: Tired and really hungry in the windy cold evening weather, biking west on the W&OD approaching the George Mason Dr intersection.
You: Nameless person whose dinner wafted a smell so magical that when it hit my nose I felt like I was wrapped inside a giant, delicious burrito.
I’ve never had such an intense pleasant smell hit my nose in such a way (and luckily I was only a few miles away from having dinner at my apartment). Thank you.

Been coming up from MVT on W&OD right at the trailhead, and there’s the guys with the portable BBQ trailer fired up and smoking something tasting good. Such torture for the rest of the ride back to Falls Church with the image of tasty smoky BBQ dancing in my head.

Wreckless riding is a good thing after all.

I see (and smell) that BBQ trailer, too! Sometimes there is also a Salvadorean food truck around there, and all I can do to resist the temptation to stop is to just hold my breath for a few seconds!

ParticipantI got ran off the trail this morning by 3 extremely unsafe cyclists. Please, if you see these 3, run, run fast, run far. I don’t know how they propel their bicycles, because they ride around floating in the air. But, they will mow you down, ninja kick you, then laugh and smile as they seek their next victims.

ParticipantOne of the individuals who routinely has passed me in the last year (probably a few dozen times) and never called his passes actually called it today! So this is a positive missed connection for that individual who called it on the 14th St Bridge. Keep it up!
Oh, and to the line of geese in the Potomac, I wish I stopped for a photo because they looked like they were in an attack formation line from the Revolutionary War 3 deep each and perfect horizontal line. Go geese!

ParticipantYesterday evening –
You backing out of your driveway on Columbia St in Falls Church, ok you waited for the car in front of me to go past, but then you had to back across the road right as I was cruising down the hill less than 20 yards from you. I guess my not quite retina searing helment mounted light and dual handlebar lights shining right into your car windows weren’t very noticible. Oh, I saw why, you were too d&%m busy talking on your cell phone to pay attention to what was on the road!! 😡 Why is it drivers can’t finish their cell phone conversations before putting their cars in gear and letting off the brakes? :confused:December 21, 2012 at 7:31 pm #958230baiskeli

And they are not wearing helmets.

They also look like they’re about to enter an intersection in disregard of traffic.

Were you crossing the Humpback bridge about 8 am this morning?
