This is my version of a “missed connection” post…

You: headphones, no helmet passing me on the right in the bike lane on Clarendon Blvd. the morning of May 9 about 8 am.

    Me: riding safely as usual

You should call your damn passes – especially when passing on the right. I could have swerved right into you.

    Dumbass.

Oh, can I borrow that? Seems much safer than my obligatory middle finger.

Spotted on the WOD this morning: dude in team (or at least matching) kit.

    On an e-assist bike.

    *sigh*

I dropped the Woody Woodpecker laugh with wave on a “get off the road” driver and his facial expression went full confused psychotic. I counted it as a win.

Thanks Pinky for hooking up one of our DC Bike party members in the DC Bike Ride on the 22nd. You had a tube to fit where none of us did, and you had the CO2 cart to get us going again.

Oblivious Lexus driver utilizes entire bike lane and half of road lane last Friday: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GWi0YvSoyRg

I honestly think the woman was oblivious to even me being right next to her at the red light (for those wondering, the road here kind of forces cars/bikes to curve left somewhat in intersection to continue on it, so it’s not like I came off the sidewalk there). Pretty sure she was on her phone. Either way, she proceeded to ride up the hill in the bike lane for several hundred feet before eventually correcting herself.

Now you can use “your face” like I taught you (and my daughter taught me), as in:

“Your face can get off the road.”

Anyone know why some Arlington employees felt the need to drive a dump truck up the W&OD yesterday morning around 8am? This was around mile marker 4-5 where the I-66 wall is on one side and 4MR is on the other. The driver did a fabulous job at being as safe as possible, but it was a dump truck and with all the bike/ped traffic he didn’t get very far very fast.

I’d email trails@arlingtonva.us about this. The manager is sympathetic to the pleas of “not during rush hour”, but sometimes others in the County need reminding (and sometimes it really is an emergency).

I noticed a lot of trail work being done this morning (hooray for trimming since I have been ducking lots of branches lately). Maybe related? (Totally speculative).

I will vote for anyone who can promise a new requiring all trail trimming to accommodate someone who is 6’3″ on a 58 cm bike.
