ParticipantNorthern Virginia Regional Park Authority pick-up truck parked at the entrance to a trail to the W&OD. As far as I could tell, no one from NVRPA was near by. Why don’t they get it?

ParticipantThe fact that the Forum website keeps flipping photos is also getting a bit annoying.

ParticipantMe: cyclist on curvy bits of 4MR just north of the water treatment plant
You: very quiet cyclist coming up from behind
Me: swerving slightly to avoid something on the trail and I look to my left as I start the maneuver to see you starting to pass me – no call or bell – and I say “If you announced yourself, I would have known you were there”
You: deciding to stay behind me until well after we go under Mt Vernon Ave. Then pass – still no call or bell, but rocking some headphones.
Me: “Please announce your pass in some way!”
You: keep riding, yet barely faster than me.Really? An accident nearly occurred and I tell you why, but you do not correct yourself at the next opportunity and barely stay ahead of me? Why were you even passing me then? Take the f’ing headphones off Dude!

I took these same photos Monday night, sitting there blocking the entrance to the trail. There are plenty of places to park within 50 feet that don’t block. I think I will send along to NVRPA.

If karma means anything, his failure to use his ears to monitor his surroundings will eventually result in a world of hurt.

ParticipantOn the WOD I drafted this bad boy for 80 feet as it mercilessly cleared the west bound flow of pedestrians, cyclists, and bunnies. IT WAS EXHILARATING.

Received this email back:
I received an email you sent to our “Feedback” address in regards to a park vehicle blocking the trail access near Madison Manor Park in Arlington. Our park specialist was checking out a report from one of our trail patrollers about a potential issue near the 4.5 mile marker. The next time staff is in the area I’ll make sure they park in a suitable area that is clear for trail users. Thank you for alerting me to this matter and for your interest in the W&OD Trail.Sincerely,

Which is why the westbound traffic was cleared — it was coming at them head on.

This response doesn’t explain why the truck was parked upside down though.

ParticipantThis is from my morning commute today. I’ll just let the video speak for itself.

A picture is worth a thousand words. Videos are worth millions. Stupidity is free.
