Was that you Fast Friendly Guy that I saw this morning on MVT wearing a giant turkey on his helmet? Looked kind of like him, but hard to tell as I was picking up pace on that stretch of MVT toward Roosevelt Island. I did smile and get a good chuckle out of it on a cold morning.

That was most certainly him, he left FCCII to do the loop with that thing perched atop his lid. Unless there is another turkey wearing, bell ringing, leaf picking, greeting giving, fast riding cyclist in town, you saw the bonafide Turkey Man.

To the asshat heading South between 395 and Graverly Point last night around 6:30 who nearly collided with me because it was so important to pass a slower rider in the dark in my lane as I rapidly approached. You’re lucky I was paying attention and that your light was brighter than your brain. #dimwit[/QUOTE ]
On a happier note, I’m pretty sure I saw you (from my car) shortly before that as you were getting ready to cross Walter Reed Drive heading east. It was pretty dark though and I didn’t want to startle you with a quick honk.

He was wearing that thing Wednesday morning when he dropped me like a bad habit on the WOD, riding along the walls adjacent to 66.

Boy there sure were a lot of doucherockets blasting their lights directly into the eyes of oncoming trail users with the brilliance of a thousand suns tonight! I sure did appreciate having to choose between taking my eyes off the path and being totally blinded!

How do people see when using a flashing light? Lots of flashers tonight.

Kinda funny, I was behind a guy (green shirt, skater-type helmet, Northbound on MVT and the Custis around 5PM) this evening who very dramatically threw up his left arm to block the bar and helmet mounted lights on a rider heading South by the Marriott parking lot. The funny thing being that, despite his reaction to the oncoming lights, he clearly has no clue that his strobing rear light is every bit as blinding as the oncoming lights.

So… I want the cold weather back. It seemed like ALL of the idiots were back on the trails (and roads) last night.

You: The woman who was with another woman with a puppy on leash on the other side of the MVT who looked STRAIGHT at me and then stepped into the trail to cross to the other side.
Me: The girl on a bike that is SO glad that I have disc brakes that work REALLY well.
You: (as I slammed on my brakes and literally stopped a half inch from you) OMG!
The other girl with the dog to you: SERIOUSLY?! Etiquette!
You: I saw her coming and I…

    ?!?!?!?!

That could have been really bad. Luckily, I had slowed down because I had a feeling this woman was going to cross in front of me, but I was expecting her to do it sooner and not wait until I was two feet from her.

You: A half dozen people who decided to walk out onto 7th NW at Archives Metro against the light
Me: The cyclist maybe 10 feet from you doing 20 mph downhill on the Xtracycle

Thanks to the guy who imitated the screech of my locked up back wheel as I avoided sending the lot of you to the hospital. And thanks to Bicycle Space for the brake adjustment yesterday afternoon that allowed me to lock up the wheel.

To the 3 Freds that blew through the red light at 3rd St. NW, heading west on I St…. you realize that if you had actually tried riding just a little faster you would have easily made the light right?? After you 3 busted through the light and the SUV driver who was patiently waiting started to go, all I could do was shrug my shoulders and shake my head. If you were better cyclists you wouldn’t need to do such blatantly stupid things.

The funniest bit is that you were all decked out in blinkie lights, reflective gear, and all the other things that help to keep you safe. Guess what morons!? Not blowing through red lights is probably the best technique for being safe on a bike out there. What’s the point of all the other stuff then?

PS – To the third guy, lube your damn chain. It sounded like you had a cat stuck in there.

You: Westbound on P Street nearing the 15th Street intersection
    Me: Ditto

You nearly right hooked me as we both tried to beat the red light. Then you called out, “Didn’t you see me?” as we both cruised up 15th Street. I replied, “Did you use your turn signal?” mostly because I didn’t remember seeing it. I could have been mistaken, so I had to review the tape.

    Nope, you didn’t.

That said, I normally don’t like to pass cars on the right near intersections, so a certain amount of blame fall upon me, too.

The person in a Rolls Royce always assumes everyone’s looking at them. (Or was it a Bentley…I wasn’t looking.)

Me: Waiting over a minute after hitting the beg button to cross Gallows on the W&OD
You: Crossing the yellow line to pass a car coming to a stop as I was finally getting the light
    Me: …

I: (Grammar weenie) riding South at the top of Little Falls Pkwy at speed, in the rain, in the dark.

You: Ninja-salmon–obligatory yellow rain schmatte, but no frickin lights!–emerging from the gloom immediately in front of me coming northbound from the CCT on the wrong side of the road. Just ’cause it’s a shoulder doesn’t mean you get to play stupid games on it.

Me: In the bike lane, waiting for the light to change, in the bike lane eastbound on Eye Street at South Capitol

You: the driver of the commercial pick up truck, with Md tags, in the RIGHT TURN ONLY lane – IE to MY right. If you want to proceed through on Eye you are supposed to be in the lane to MY LEFT. Once you are in the right turn only lane, you must proceed right (S bound) on South Cap. Scooting around me on my right and then pulling in front of me is NOT acceptable, EVEN if the cars in the lane to my left are all making the left turn onto Nbound South Cap. I don’t care how much you want to pull into the McD’s.
