ParticipantOn the W somewhere between Reston and Vienna.
Me (internal, “deep” thoughts): Man, that’s a big stick. I need to chart a course around it.
Snake: Look at this fool.
Me: Man, I need water. Looks like that stick is moving. That can’t be right.
Snake: WTF!!??
Me (abeam with the snake and comments out loud): Oh sh@# son! That’s a copperhead.
Snake: I should have bit him.
Me: Did I get bit? Nope, no pain. Whew, but I should have taken a selfie. God, I’m a doofus. Whatever. Wonder if there’s beer in the fridge. Soldier on.June 26, 2014 at 1:00 pm #1004799Bilsko

Yeah, you’re right, I really should have called out or signaled my intention of crossing the street, given that you were continuing up the RCMP sidewalk up to Lincoln Circle.
The good thing is, you had your nose so far up my saddlebag at that point that there’s no way you would have missed my hand signal to turn, you #myopiclittletwit.
#ItsNotThePeloton and I still haven’t gotten my CAT 6 license yet.
Oh and I really shouldn’t have worn a wool jersey today.

ParticipantVery interesting morning on the roads…
First MC: Driver who, for whatever reason, stopped at a flashing yellow at Westmoreland/Williamsburg and was clearly annoyed that I didn’t “just go” despite the fact that I was facing a flashing red. Don’t get pissy at me because you’re confused about how to deal with the intersection (hint: flashing yellow for you means you don’t have to stop, flashing red for me means I do).
Second MC: Driver that was incredibly concerned that I was going to pass her on the right as we pulled away from a red light, since she was making a right-hand turn after the light. While I appreciate your conscientiousness in the situation (and I had no plans to pass you on the right) using your turn signal is a better way to ensure cyclists don’t pass when you’re making a turn, rather than just awkwardly slowing and looking over your shoulder at me.
Third MC: Driver that decided to pass me 50 feet before a red light, only to then slam on his brakes before he got even 5 feet in front of me, and then wave me past before he turned into the gas station immediately before the light. What?

I’m seeing it too. I believe it’s Dr. Zaius!

ParticipantApparently Tapatalk is grabbing a random selection of photos from the thread. They’re starting to show up on the 1/8 sightings thread as well

You; on your morning walk stick your left arm out like your trying to cloths line someone and just leave it there until after I pass.
Really?!?!
I’ve seen this guy do that a lot. I’m going to take a picture of him next time and post it online.

Permission to the buzz the tower? Ghost Rider permission denied.
He is simply trying to enforce a non-existent no-fly zone on his 50th parallel. Since this is reciprocal, feel free to slow down, stop, extend arm thusly, and wait for him to pass.

Participant8:40AM on the Custis Trail outside of the Marriott
You: very important dude in a Specialized jersey on a nice looking Trek bike. You sir, are a $&#%&#. You did a no-call pass on me as I had slowed behind two walkers to let a west-bound cyclist come through. Did you not see this was the reason I slowed, because there was no room to safely split the middle? I guess you disagreed since you blew through and then DID call a pass on the walkers, but only as you were already abreast of them.
The icing on the cake though was you yelling, “Bike path! Bike path!” over and over again as a school group began filing onto the trail from the Marriott Parking lot. No, it’s not just a bike path. We’re just one of many users of that particularly crowded section and yelling that at them was just plain rude. When we complain about a-hole cyclists making the rest of us look bad we’re talking about you. Seriously, reign it in on that section of the trail. It’ll cost you precious seconds on your commute, but will save you all of the bad will that you left in your wake.

Me: wait, what?I’m not going to lie: when traffic is crawling along like it was yesterday (i.e. going slower than I bike), I dream of hopping on the GWMP at the TR Island parking lot, and off at Spout Run. It would save me … 0.1 mile and A MILLION feet of climbing.

ParticipantCyclist passes me on the MVT after coming up right behind me and loudly yelling “HUT!” You trying to startle people and cause accidents or something? Just say “on your left” or “passing” or whatever. In fact, not calling a pass at all is better than that.
