ParticipantI would be willing to contribute the cost of one sign if the message is sufficiently snarky yet helpful.

ParticipantDude, if you’re going to draft me without announcing your presence or offering to take a pull, at least get your bike tuned up!
*squeek – grind – clatter – skweeel – GROOONK!*
If I had hair to pull out, I wouldn’t anymore after today.

At least the constant noise alerted you to his presence on your wheel.

ParticipantThis was one of those days when I wanted an AirZound …to blow at the cyclists who were riding like idiots. Really annoying to see light-jumping, right-of-way-stealing jerks on my regular route.
To the dude who should have been creamed by the car he cheated at the all-way stop and the woman who got a well-deserved horn blast from the UPS driver: please find another route!

You are assuming that those are *bike* noises….

ParticipantMe: Guy in a Silver/Green Honda Odyssey taking a rare weekday drive to work to bring my wife in to a doctor’s appt.
You: The bicyclist I came close to hitting at the CCT trail crossing in Bethesda up near the pool.Another cyclist had just crossed in the opposite direction, and my attention was locked on them….when I checked left and right before carrying through, I didn’t see anyone approaching on the path, and you must’ve ended up in my blind spot. Somehow our movements perfectly coincided that as you moved forward towards the crossing, you stayed in my blind spot as I started moving slowly forward. My wife saw you and yelled….you saw me moving and yelled, and I stopped, looking (I’m sure) pretty terrified, and surprised as I’m usually insanely careful at this crossing, being someone who uses it on my bike fairly often…I threw up a sincere “I’m sorry” wave, and you seemed to nod in forgiveness, but if you’re out there….I’m truly sorry about that. You were dressed to the nines and nice and bright, and playing it over in my head, I still have no idea how I missed you. Sorry.

GuestMe: riding home with my strawberries, asparagus, and other assorted goodies.
You: Black SUV w/ MD plates.I did try to let you and the car in front of you pass me before entering the narrow section of the street, but the driver in front of you wouldn’t go, even when I tried to wave him past. Regardless, after he did pass me about 10 seconds later (?), and you were then stuck behind me while I took the too-narrow-to-share lane, you… waited patiently behind me until the road widened again, then passed carefully at a reasonable speed with adequate clearance.
Thanks!

When I saw Black SUV w/ Maryland plates, I expected a completely different plot twist. Guess you can’t always judge a book by its cover.June 10, 2014 at 12:25 pm #1003717Anonymous

And then yesterday there was the gold z4 convertible that was not only extra considerate and careful around *me*, but also came to a full and complete stop at the mid-block crosswalk for some pedestrians.
//not sure i even recognize my world anymore//
the pedestrians looked happy but slightly bemused; i decided not to think too hard about whether that was due to the entitled beamer driver in the left lane stopping for them, or the scofflaw cyclist (that would be me) in the right lane doing so. or maybe the combination both of us together…

ParticipantMe: cruising down the the WOD, JRA’ing my way to work
You: out on your morning training ride, reeling me in getting ready to passSorry ’bout the snot rocket, maybe call your pass next time.
It did give me an idea for a jersey though.
Caution Snot Rocketeer! Draft at your own peril.

Love it, best deterrent for drafters and stealth passers! I accidentally hit my teammate during Sundays challenge with a nose clearing… really thought I was clear, pulled to the left, about 25 ft ahead of him… apparently going downhill negates all of that… oops!

Participantyesterday I got to witness a Yellow Cab #702 with DC H 98468 cut through a construction zone in order to make a uturn on Penn Ave. As I rode by taking pictures, one of the construction workers said “report that plate!”
