ParticipantTo the completely enraged, insane woman in a black Mercedes on McArthur before/during/after the one-lane bridge yesterday: you seriously need to take a pill. Following me while laying on your horn for 1/4 mile and then trying to block me from going across the bridge all while screaming that I should ride in the F&^^%%$# bike lane. Laying on your horn while tailgating me across the bridge and then screaming at me again. When I mentioned I had your tag # and was calling the police, you took off at high speed. Not sure what got your panties in such a wad, but seriously, calm down. Late model black Mercedes, TAG # AC 1465.

Carry a camera in your pocket. Stop. Pull it out, take a picture of the car, the driver, and the license plate. It should solve the problem.

Except when it (and lots of other evidence) doesn’t…

Ha! (We usually do have cupcakes in our pocket for throwing at people…but most of the time we end up eating them ourselves.)

ParticipantThis morning the cars and pedestrians were behaving themselves, even with the lovely slush and ice everywhere.
The cyclists, however, were a different story. Like the one entering the 14th St NW bike lane from Church without even looking at the two cyclists who had to slow (from an already slow CaBi pace) to avoid a collision. And then the clown who passed me too closely with no warning JUST as the light turned green and I started to move. And the other guy who shoaled me then rode REALLY slowly in front of me until blowing the light at 13th then doing I don’t even know what in the left lane on 7th. I fully support cyclists taking the lane, but when you do it, take the lane. Don’t kinda sorta ride somewhere towards the middle and confuse everyone as to what you’re doing. Take the lane like you’re driving a Hummer. It’s your lane. Own it.

ParticipantAs a general rule, cars don’t belong in bike lanes. The 15th street cycle-track in particular. But I was inclined to give you the benefit of the doubt since you were an MPD cruiser with his running lights on (not flashing though).
And then, as I navigated out of the snowy cycle-track, between the flex-posts, and into oncoming traffic to pass you, I looked over and saw that whatever reason you’d originally had to be there had obviously long passed. You were engaged in the vital law enforcement function of watching YouTube videos. It looked like hockey, maybe? I can’t imagine the State of the Union caused a viewing conflict for you last night.

ParticipantDear rider on the Custis yesterday evening around 7:00pm wearing black booties, black tights, black jacket, black gloves, black balaclava, black helmet on a black bike with no lights or reflectors. Please tell me you fight crime at night and your bike is called Robin, otherwise you’re a FRIGG”N IDIOT!

ParticipantI stopped to check out the two bald eagles in the tree right at the end of Gravelly Pt by the entrance ramp to 395 north. I’ve seen them several times before, but always south of OT and never that close to the city.
Oh, and missed connection, to the car who went to turn in front of me, stopped realizing he didn’t want to turn there, backed up, and then made a u-turn not 100 feet up (and again in front of me). Are you trying to confuse and kill me?
