Hans = the humblest KOM stealer I know. Now that his attention has been brought to this one, I’m going to have to get out the aerohelmet and skinsuit to try and get it back again.
Don’t worry, Tim; I am positive that your spot is safe Anyway, the KOM I want [that you have] is Patrick Henry!

Of course! And I’ll also buy you one as penance for not recognizing that in the first place.

Why not, my original suggestion was KOM/QOM.

I was all shocked when I uploaded my ride and saw that I was in 3rd place. Then I realized that Jason Berry rode through and blew that segment away.
(You see, you do have to ride down the hill and through the stop sign if you want the KOM. I would propose that 3rd is as good as it’s gonna get by turning left. Of course, I’m not definitely not saying that your third won’t be faster than mine.)

ParticipantI created a law-abiding segment that incorporates N Kennebec St (and by so doing enforces a left turn and avoids the stop-sign issue). http://app.strava.com/segments/4076899 Upon reflection, though, I don’t know if encouraging people to rail that turn is really any more responsible. It’s probably just a bad place to have a Strava segment.

*le sigh*
It was lost before it even started: http://raceshape.com/strava-segments/3160057 I guess it that just means we need an even faster start…
This one will go on the short list.

I find this segment much more informative as who are truely
kings of this “mountain.”May 11, 2013 at 10:02 pm #969751OneEighth
ParticipantJust popped up 11th on my way to being sighted by DismalScientist. Not sure why y’all don’t just start from a stop at the stop.

Well I suspect, as Mark noted, that most of the riders don’t go ride a route that goes through that stop sign; we just turn left off of Kennebec. I do, however, think it would be great if you could define segments in Strava that started from a stop (i.e. only rides that started below some threshold mph would match the segment).

Nope, I was wrong. Jason did not ride through the stop sign. He rode south on Kennebec and turned right onto 11th. Well, I am not chasing this KOM, but obviously I was wrong about thinking this segment couldn’t be done without flouting the stop sign.

Actually, you were right. Jason got the 17 sec KOM on the time he blew the stop sign at 25 mph. On the time he made the right from Kennebec he scored 20 seconds.

Ah, ok. Thanks for the correction. I was confused by which time was the fast one, I guess, and felt bad for leaping to conclusions. I guess it was a safe leap after all.
