I am guessing it will mean a fair number of people trying out the PBL, even though its not “open”. BTW, does that mean the construction will be done?
The grand opening of Phase I is on 10/12. So they expect it to be done.
I haven’t really looked at the PBL since I have enough trouble dodging uneven pavement, construction workers, and whatever without having my eyes wander to the bike lane. Does it look like it is useable now?

I bet it’s obvious, but what is the PBL? I’ve only just started commuting into the jungle that is D.C. proper and haven’t seen that one. If they’re repaving Maine Ave on the 3rd, I should study up!

PBL=Protected Bike Lane

ParticipantI have put up with it for what seems like years. The Case Bridge is nice, did that today.
I don’t understand why DDOT didn’t require the construction crew to block off the two right lanes completely. Letting the construction crews use the only remaining southbound lane for equipment moves and other shenanigans was dumb and dangerous and I had a few close calls.
I am glad it is almost over and look forward to the cycletrack. I hope it does not become a sidewalk extension though.

They’re preparing for me to ferry over from Hains Points to do Maine Avenue PBL loops.

It looks like the bike-ometer in Rosslyn, which shows daily numbers up top, monthly numbers below and the annual number as a bar rising from the bottom. That’s what the 500,000 is showing – the annual number.

ParticipantNothing like dodging traffic while riding on milled pavement…at least it’s an indicator that fresh asphalt is on the way.

I was noting that there are six LED numbers for the daily rider count. We’ll need a few more lanes in the PBL for that.

ParticipantSomehow they managed to make it worse this morning. I went over the top on Case Bridge so could not see all of what was happening below, but traffic was pouring up 9th to take the left to the Promenade making getting away from the Case Bridge difficult. I assume this means the westbound lanes of Maine were closed and 9th was the detour?

ParticipantSo “fun” this morning! Maine Ave westbound was closed at 9th, so all traffic was being diverted up 9th. Looking back, I think the sidewalk on the north side of Maine was actually open, but it was unclear from where I was and the cement looked wet too. So I cut up to Banneker and took the Case Bridge.

ParticipantNice picture, TwoWheelsDC. When riding through this mess, I never have time to actually look at what is happening. Does anyone know why the grass has been removed on the slope to Banneker Circle?
Only a few more days until the problems here become of a different variety.
