2016 Patuxent River Rural Legacy Bicycle Ride
Sat, June 11, 2016
Jug Bay Natural Area, 16000 Croom Airport Rd, Upper Marlboro, Maryland 20772
Early Registration: $20 (through March 31)
Regular Registration: $30 (April 1 – April 30)
Late Registration: $40 (May 1 – June 5)
No Walkup Registration, Limit 750 riders

Enjoy scenic, rural cycling at the Oxon Hill Bicycle and Trail Club’s 17th annual ride to showcase Prince George’s County’s Patuxent River Rural Legacy Area, where farms, wetlands, and woods are being protected from development with Maryland’s Rural Legacy Program.Starting Location
The Picnic Pavilion and Group Camp Area of the Patuxent River Park. [Google Map]DIRECTIONS: From Croom Road, take Croom Airport Road. Go 2.9 miles to the Picnic Pavilion and Group Camp Area of the Patuxent River Park. Some GPS devices would have you go the Patuxent River Park Visitor Center. Do NOT go to the Visitor Center, but follow the sign to the Picnic Pavilion and Group Camping Area and continue on Croom Airport Road. When Croom Airport Road turns left at the Columbia Air Center Memorial, turn right, go through the gate toward the picnic area. and follow directions from the parking volunteers.
Routes
Scenic routes of 22, 35, 44 and 64 miles on paved, country roads.Rest Stops
The routes of 35, 44 and 64 miles have a rest stop at a beach-park where Magruder’s Ferry once crossed the Patuxent. The 64-mile route also has a rest stop at the Town of Eagle Harbor in a shady yard overlooking the Patuxent. All routes have a rest stop at the Merkle Wildlife Sanctuary.Check-in and start riding between 7:00 AM and 9:30 AM. Riders doing the 64 miles should start by 8:00, riders doing the 44 miles should start by 8:30, riders doing the 35 miles by 9:00, and riders doing the 22 miles by 9:30.
Your registration fee includes marked routes, SAG support, cue sheet, food and drinks at rest stops and an after-ride picnic.

I just might sign up for this. FFG Mentioned this this morning and asked if people want to go as a group. I grew up in PG County but still haven’t biked much over in MD. So yes, I think I’m in!
