ParticipantKidical Mass Arlington, inaugural ride!
Here’s what I’m thinking: Sunday, May 19, meet at 11:30am, roll out 11:40am**
Meet Lubber Run Community Center’s playground (the center isn’t open on the weekends)
Bike to Vapiano Ballston, via W&OD and Bluemont Trail 3 miles: http://goo.gl/maps/Gdj8M
Eat lunch (hopefully arriving around noon) at Vapiano
Bike back to Lubber Run (Vermont St –> Park St, on the map above also, probably back around 1pm).Thoughts on the timing? Route?
Note: I did some recon today (Sunday) and I really don’t like anything about the “trail” along 50 or the hairpin turn to get from 50 down to the W&OD. So the route above takes Park St across 50 (there’s a light there), then goes through the neighborhood (using a less steep street) to get to the W&OD. Adds 0.2 mile but I think it’s worth it to not lose any kids in the creek.
Also, I’m talking to Vapiano about some sort of discount or special treatment.
For that, it’ll be helpful to have rough numbers, so if you know you’re a yes or maybe, please let me know!
**These are new times since Friday. Vapiano opens at noon Sundays.

Thanks for the tip. Luckily, it won’t effect our route, though it’ll be nice to be right there. Those that don’t want to do Vapiano can pop over.

ParticipantFun ride today, thanks for putting it together. My daughter and I will definitely be back for future rides. I snapped a couple photos but sadly no group shots:

ParticipantThanks to everyone who came out! We had a great time. I’ll post pictures tonight. Sydney was asking to go back to “Kidical” as I was carrying her upstairs to bed. Then she asked where the adults go (get it – because it’s “KIDical”?). She gets punchy.
Can’t wait until June’s ride. June 19th, which is Father’s Day. I’m completely open to suggestions. Especially if someone knows of a beer garden right next to a playground that’s near bike trails.
Seriously, I was thinking an A-to-A ride (start and finish in the same place), where A has food and/or beer for the Dads. So the whole family can come out together, and either the mom’s can take the kids on the ride and give the dad’s some alone time, or the dad’s can take the kids out on the ride. Being Father’s Day, it should be Dad’s choice…
