I really need to find a local bike shop that stocks WeeHoos and get them to sponsor. That’s at least the 2nd sold by KM-A. I’m thinking sponsorship would entail snacks at the start / finish of each ride, more swag and maybe even bike shop discounts…
and Thanks!
I got mine at REI.

It’s like a pedicab for children; the minivan of the car-lite.
My budget is lucky they didn’t have this a couple of years ago: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151501122266611&set=a.10150203688846611.317381.78360906610&type=1&theater

I think you have to call them “stoker” and “slacker”.

Maybe the rear kid is responsible for braking Flintstones-style because I don’t see a place the feet to go.

The comments say they left it out to make the picture cleaner. See https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151544302436611&set=a.10151544301851611.1073741829.78360906610&type=3&theater

ParticipantOn the routing for the Oct. 5 ride, after some more recon, here is what we’re thinking:
http://ridewithgps.com/routes/3379060
The pavement on Long Bridge and Boundary Channel isn’t great, but isn’t worse than the “bad” roads in Arlington. Kidical Mass Arlington has been on some of those “bad” roads, and I don’t think they’re a big deal. We’re rolling along slowly, and I’ll be sure to warn people to look out for potholes and such.
Thoughts?

Participantdasgeh, what is the pad thing called that your son leans against in your bakfiets (http://www.flickr.com/photos/pedrogringo/9791847063/in/photostream/)?
My daughter has fallen asleep on multiple occasions and I’ve been trying to figure out a setup so she can sleep comfortably. Right now I usually just put a bag next to her that she can lean on (not the most comfortable I’m sure) but if she could lean forward onto something that would probably be fairly comfy.

That’s the Hand Rest for the Bobike Mini. In a moment of DIY handiness, we bolted the bobike mini adapter to the bench, so we can put the seat into it, giving the little guy more support than just sitting on the bench (and freeing him from having to look at us the whole ride and the confines of the car seat). The hand rest secures in with the bobike seat. We’re pretty big fans. Maybe you could affix that to the box itself?
Have you considered bolting in a seat? We have one that friends gave us that could be mutilated to work with a box — the piece to attach it to a normal bike broke off, so it’s ripe for the sawing and bolting….

It’s something I’ve considered but haven’t really looked into yet. I’d definitely like to check out the seat your have, thanks! Is it basically a wooden bench?

Saw signs this morning that Boundary Channel is scheduled to be closed this weekend (Friday, September 20 9 pm – Monday, September 23 5 am), but based on your map, you might be avoiding the section that is going to be closed.
What if you went south in Crystal City and entered Alexandria using Potomac Avenue or is this strictly an Arlington County ride?

The seat we have for mutilating is something like this (I have NO IDEA what brand, and it’s used, but it looks basically like that). Say the word and it’s yours.
The bakfiets comes with a wooden bench that’s attached to the back of the box with a hinge. It’s pretty awesome. Storage underneath, comfort for the bigger kids, ability to bolt things onto it (the internet is rich with ideas, especially if you speak Dutch or are patient with google translate).
