Yes! The crater farm on Boundary Channel Drive under 395 is now freshly paved and smooth. How lovely! Drove through there this weekend — like buttah!

ParticipantFrom a City of Alexandria press release.
On July 8, Alexandria received a month’s worth of rain in approximately one hour, which created widespread flash flooding. As a result, Holmes Run stream levels surged over 12 feet causing significant damage to paved and unpaved sections of Holmes Run Trail.
The damage has led to the Holmes Run Trail being closed for repairs west of the North Ripley Street crossing. The extent of the damage will result in extended trail closures. Although the eastbound connection to Holmes Run Trail is interrupted west of North Beauregard Street, the trail within Dora Kelley Nature Park is open to pedestrians.
City staff are continuing to assess the damage at all City parks and trails and will be developing a mitigation and repair plan over the next few weeks. Further details and closure timeframes will be shared as they become available. There is a permanently signed high water detour that will connect you to the Holmes Run Trail west of Beauregard. The detour runs north on Peagram, west on Richenbacher/Sanger (crossing Van Dorn) to a south on Beauregard.

ParticipantMVT at Memorial Bridge they are working on the bridge right at the trail entrance on the north side. They appear to be repointing the brickwork. Use caution as workers may appear on the trail without warning (or looking).

I think Arlington should admit climate change and permanently sign high water detours for its trails.

ParticipantTree down across the very north end of Trollheim just as you get onto the boards. Dismount probably required.

Huh? I went through there at about 7:30 and didn’t notice a tree down. Has someone moved it? Was it passable enough that I didn’t notice? (I have been swinging wide there for a few days due to overgrowth)

Thanks! Reji and I had fun riding around it this morning practicing a little off road action.

I went through around 7:00. It was not a big tree, so perhaps someone moved it by the time you got there.

ParticipantC&O Canal towpath was impassable this AM. Can’t recall seeing as many down trees blocking the trail. Started at MP 22 and could not get much past MP 19 before I turned around and bailed out at Pennyfield Lock. One massive tree blocking the trail after another…

Please echo the comments of Chris Slatt about “WOD Trails” threading of tweets. At one point their messaging had become incoherent, and when Chris gave them a very constructive suggestion, they got snarky.

ParticipantThe beg light for the W&OD trail crossing Catoctin Circle in Leesburg was malfunctioning this morning. Once I pressed it, it was fairly quick to give red lights to street traffic, but the white walk light never came on. And, no, I haven’t reported it to anyone.
