I reported this speed detection sign that was placed in the North Van Dorn St buffered bike lane in Alexandria on December 31 (Call.Click.Connect. #111613), but it is still there.
I also reported it via Twitter to both the Alexandria gov and police handles and got a response (they said they will communicate with the people who put it there): https://twitter.com/bobco85/status/815317704441741312

Update on this situation: the sign has been moved! I cannot confirm whether it was Alexandria Police or Steve O, but I am happy with the result:
old location of the sign
new location a few hundred feet closer to King St (the highest speed I saw was 32 mph on that stretch, so the traffic calming has certainly worked)
I posted my thanks to Alexandria Police.

ParticipantI must say, that is a much more sensible location

ParticipantI keep forgetting to ask this, but does anyone know why the lights are out on the MVT east of Lynn St. and around the TR Island parking lot? They’ve been out for a while, but I don’t remember them being turned off during previous winters.

From a don’t-obstruct-the-bike-lane perspective, yes. But I would guess that the sign impacted driver behavior more at the old location. Motorists are more likely to speed downhill approaching Braddock than when they’re entering the blind curve at the Park Place crosswalk.

Because they are broken?

Try reporting through the Arlington app. Even if they are not Arlington’s, they will send the report along to Dominion or NPS or whomever is responsible.

ParticipantWord is that Arlington trails have been brined in preparation for possible snow tonight! Arlington County Parks and Recreation is keeping a close eye on conditions and will respond with appropriate snow clearing efforts.

(photo from 2015)Can we please introduce Montgomery County and DC to the concept of brining, as it applies to trails? The CCT doesn’t get treated before or after it snows. Even plowing it is a new thing.

Hey now – *serious* snow prep going on when wee Lucky Run Trail (along Walter Reed Dr) gets a brine application! Kudos to those sharing the Pickle Juice!

Did they remove the sweet gum pods at Dinwiddie that took me down a week ago? Well, I guess I will find out shortly.

According to the PM:
Closure has been rescheduled because of more coordination required with WMATA & DDOT. Closure will be just between N St NE & M St. NE. They are reviewing the needs for alternate paths and detour signs with WMATA & DDOT. M St. NE will continue to have construction traffic into 2018.Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info! I imagine this will end up funneling traffic down the exit ramp near the Elevation (leaving the MBT just north of Florida Avenue) and then folks would either head under Florida to 3rd or head down 2nd/N Street/1st to join the cycletrack at M, assuming riding under the MBT between N and M isn’t an option during construction, either.

ParticipantWABA reported this on Twitter:
Heads up: The metal curb ramps on the 15th St protected bike lane just north of the White House have been removed until after inauguration.
https://twitter.com/WABADC/status/817454458590339072
Inauguration Day is January 20, so basically for at least 2 weeks the ramps will not be there. I don’t know if this means that using the sidewalk to get around it is off-limits or not.

There are also a TON of road closures around inauguration day…
