As the reigning “Queen of Sleaze,” I’ve had a few people ask me what exactly constitutes a “sleaze” ride. The title is somewhat misleading (well not the “sleaze” part :p) as it is really a sleaze “day,” not a sleaze “ride.” A sleaze is a day of riding where you ride at least 1 but not more than 2 miles. You can do this in one, two, twenty-seven and a half rides, whatever keeps your total mileage for the day at a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 2 miles. So, it’s easy to get out there even in the nastiest of conditions and knock out just one mile before the day comes to a close.

And just so you know, you do not need to make all of your rides sleaze rides to win the coveted title of “Queen (or King) of Sleaze.” A few days during the week will add up quickly. I actually had the most weekend miles of any female rider while also being “Queen of Sleaze” so you can balance it all out. So, get your sleaze on and put in some long mileage days too. Your team will thank you. And good luck trying to dethrone me!!!!

Also, if you are going for just barely a mile to get your daily points, be careful! Strava records more significant figures that it displays. If you ride, for example, 0.99 miles, Strava will *display* this as 1.0 miles, but will *record* it as 0.99 miles (or whatever it is to the nearest foot or meter or something those people who actually work with the data could probably tell you). 0.99 miles will not earn you your 10 points for riding that day! #learnedthehardway

It would actually be quite a feat, and a considerable amount of work, to do 27 rides in one day without totaling more than 2 miles. At that point, I wonder if it still counts as a sleaze day?

Well, thanks for the clarification. I’ve been riding too many miles. I’ll need to cut back!

I wonder how many put off riding yesterday until the evening only to be surprised by the heavy downpours. Sleazing can also be getting in a quick ride when you can. Like I know that a mile is about 6 minutes in my neighborhood.

Well, I didn’t manage to get out during the day since I was trying to get the sprout some driving practice. I did get surprised by the evening rain just as I was getting ready to head out and then delayed again until it was just sprinkles before getting my version of a “sleaze” ride in.
