Just a neighborhood pass through that makes it easy to avoid having to go WAY down the hill to another block to go WAY WAY up a hill just to get to a stoplight to cross Lee Hwy in Falls Church, VA and get on your way.

Can you post a map or give an exact location? Thanks.

Hmmm, OK, I’ll call this the South Arlington Segregation Wormhole.

This is an excellent wormhole. Note it’s a reprise from last year, but it still counts: http://bikearlingtonforum.com/showthread.php?15973-Wormhole-pointless-prize&p=197586#post197586

As the Great OG of Wormholing (GOG W?), I believe my definition has been incorporated, as per Filipe’s recent post:

That part of the Alexandria bike infrastructure is the “ordinary, everyday route everyone already takes.”

I’m interested in checking this one out myself as any way to stay off 29 is a good thing. When I click the strava link I get “The requested activity cannot be found”. Would you mind double checking it when you get a chance? (No urgency). I’m looking at Google Maps of the area and having a tough time understanding the connection. Thanks and thanks for sharing your finds!

Parking lot parade: avoids the bad trail on Reston Parkway, gets a peak and new Reston Metro and delivers you to USG s drive.

I was really riding to get a picture for drevil’s photo scavenger hunt, and without thinking I took my usual wormhole that allows me to minimize my riding on Rt. 29 to get into downtown Falls Church. I ride on Lawton Street, which parallels Rt. 29 (Lee Hwy/Washington St.). At the back corner of Madison Park there’s a path that connects into the parking lot of a business on Rt. 29. Since one of my common uses of this wormhole is to get to the State Theatre, I named it “Altered State”.

On my ride tonight I used the wormhole on the way there, but took the street on the way back. See https://www.strava.com/activities/4568838130

The Great Purveyor of Pointless Prizes is in the house! A welcome tune! I have gone through said Wormhole and was hit by spinning lights and music, my mind was altered!

Welcome to the game!

Ride on.

Introducing the Poplar Heights Swim Club #wormhole which allows me to get from the W&OD trail to the local beer garden (Dominion Wine & Beer) w/out climbing a hill or becoming Road kill on Route 7 (Leesburg Pike). It also allowed me to bribe the sponsor of this prize at said Beer Garden so that I can defend my title as FS2020 #wormhole champion

Likely a well known wormhole, Taney Ave has a nice sidewalk to let you stay parallel to Duke St and avoid traffic.

Surely someone has a more creative name too, but I’ll call it the Taney Ave Sidewalk wormhole to keep it simple.
Here it is on the Google map

Ash Grove Wormhole Complex

Southwest of Tysons, the Ash Grove Wormhole Complex connects the Vienna/Wolf Trap area to Tysons through neighborhoods and avoids the narrow, high-traffic climb up Old Courthouse Rd. It is part of an official signed bike route between Wolf Trap Park for the Performing Arts and the Spring Hill Metro Station (via Bois Ave. and Montmorency Dr.).

I do that once in a while – pretty crappy sidewalk (there was I think a project proposed to rebuild with a decent shared use path, but I don’t know the status.) I really want to explore that little connection from Gordon to Raleigh that bypasses Taney Avenue Park

Looks like you would have to do a bit dirt/mud explorations if the conditions are right.

Wormhole under University Blvd to go from the Chain Bridge Road trail towards Van Dyke Park, avoiding a busy intersection with cars coming from multiple directions.ATTACH=CONFIG]22169
