ParticipantGetting between Columbia Pike and Crystal City is always a task, because I-395 has only limited places to cross. One of those is the east entrance to the Army-Navy Country Club. This wormhole can be intimidating, because one has to travel through the country club. Do not fear, though, I have traveled through in both directions on many occasions and only once have been stopped (jinxed by Josephine, who was leading a ride that day). Today, even, there were security guards at both gates, each of whom gave me a greeting and a friendly wave.
So don’t let the Dead End sign deter you; there is nothing to fear.view from Army-Navy Drive
Underpass under I-395 into the country club
Note the use of the South Arlington Segregation Wormhole, too, which was previously noted by Catedrew.
When traveling westbound, gravity in this wormhole is severe, requiring significant effort to overcome and get to the western portal. Going in the opposite direction, though, is like being pulled into a black hole, with continual acceleration up to a fraction of the speed of light.
I’m going to name this AN ‘ormhole (AN = Army-Navy), pronounced “an ‘ormhole”
“How are you going to get to Acme Pie Company, Steve O?”

Participant5***** level WormHole
I present you the GREAT GARRETT Worm Hole.
I love this WH because of how sneaky it is to find it at first, how quickly the landscape changes, the number of Wormholes within it, how it connects two of my routes together that I would have never known, but MOST importantly it just leaves me with a flat out smile on my face.
I prefer to transverse clockwise as its a bit more fun and speedy twisty experience.
It’s along ass WormHole, that connects the Bethesda Trolley Traill to Beach Drive.

At first you are in the middle of nowhere, concrete jungle but if you spot this entryway… you are in for the ride.

There is Famers market Right at Garrett Park, and great spot for food/coffee @BlackMarket the sister restaurante along with Black Salt, Black Coffee and hear the wicked hard to find Black Black.
At this spot, you might get trapped as other faster, noisier and way more heavier wormhole centric models of exploration passby, but no worries as they zoom by extremely fast.

Obvious the Great Garrett would have to Connect to Garrett Park RD, where you can connect to the Wrongly Named Beach Drive (Nahh man I am not buying the lil river beach, I want a real beach)
From here on there are few other WormHolyConnections to explore that I will reveal at a later future, past, present date. It all really depends on the SpaceTimeContinuum and AE’s TR.
Ride on.

ParticipantTo expand a little on AN ‘ormhole, here’s a map showing the location of this crossing of I-395 and the big gap that exists between Joyce Street (which is not particularly bike friendly) and the Four-Mile Run trail, which are the next crossings in either direction.
Arlington County and the country club have an agreement to someday build a connection from Hoffman-Boston elementary school (which is right at the top of the red circle) to the underpass. However, this is many years out still, so until then, enjoy AN ‘ormhole.

Thank you! Sounds fun. I was thinking about a loop via the Trolley Trail but wasn’t sure the best way to make the connection.
I think the two attachments/photos didn’t upload properly. Can you repost them when you have a chance?

ParticipantThis wormhole can avoid the car-centic Chain Bridge Road and Great Falls Street intersection in McLean VA.
The entry off Great Falls St looks like a gravel private driveway.

#FSwormhole – North meets South (or vice versa) @ Lake Barcroft
Posting this wormhole quickly before Uber Wormhole Hunter huberww beats me to it since he apparently lo-jacked my bike while I was distracted exploring another wormhole in the TyCo galaxy [emoji292]
This is a well known wormhole for those who frequent Lake Barcroft, of the stable, 2-way, traversable and Inter-universal variety.
The northern portal is gated and posted as “private property” but has a very weak force field.
The southern portal is unguarded, has a street sign 🪧 leading to nowhere, and a strong affinity for other #BAFS members as wheels&wings popped out while I was measuring the portal’s fluctuations!:-0
The center of the wormhole has a strong gravitational pull, enticing one to sit at the picnic bench and take in the #lakefinder view … but beware of the floating piers on the black hole [emoji874] which might absorb your bike if you aren’t careful!

This to me is probably the most ZEN of all WormHoles. It even has a lil bench so that you can sit and travel in your mind.
+2Points not that Boomer needs it but, let’s change the name to ZEN LAKE WormHole ( Did I just bribe you or force you with an extra point? Let’s us all meditate on that)

ParticipantIntroducing the “Staying Alive” Wormhole. When cycling from Old Town Alexandria to Mt Vernon there’s the MVT, but if you want to avoid the trail, the only other crossing of Little Hunting Creek is Rte 1, which to say the least in not very bike friendly. The “Staying Alive” wormhole passes through the Gum Springs Community Center grounds, connecting Napper Rd and Fordson Rd. Using the “Staying Alive” wormhole, especially north bound, allows one to connect from Mt Vernoon Hwy to Sherwood Hall Ln and pretty much avoids Rte 1.

ParticipantKey to Arlington Courthouse (neighborhood) — This wormhole off a driveway on N. Scott Street will transport you to the intersection of Key Blvd and N. Rhodes. Left on Rhodes for one block gets you to the PBL on Wilson, just below the Courthouse area. Continue up Key for a less-trafficked transit through the Clarendon neighborhood towards Ballston.
N. Scott Street intersects with the Custis Trail near the top of the hill out of Rosslyn. So this wormhole may be a good route for those heading from Key Bridge and the Instersection of Doom to Courthouse, Clarendon and Ballston.

Participant#FSwormhole – Pimmit View Hyper Complex
Introducing the only way to connect north-south or vice versa in this section of the Pimmit Hills hood, which has a strong gravitational pull into a vortex approaching the density of a black hole [emoji874] aka “Pimmit Hills View Park”.
The northern approach has two portals on Sportsman Drive, one marked by a large boat (my personal favorite), and the other by FCPA Rule boards ([emoji849]) at Storm Dr.
There are multiple options on the southern front as numerous streets dead-end at this Park.
The western portal at Leonard Rd leads to Griffith Road which is the bus line through Pimmit Hills that connects Margarity Rd with Pimmit Drive, the two major throughways in this hood.
There is also an eastern portal at Hileman Dr. However, beware of the NNW extension to nowhere, as that is a do-loop, which if done too many times, is difficult to escape from due to the build up of centrifugal force.

I went through there entering from the Green Valley side, and was stopped by guards and told I had to leave. Although I’ve walked in from the Army Navy Drive side and had no issues at all. There were no guards at either end each time. Other times I’ve gone near since then, there’s always been a guard on the Green Valley side. I am sorely tempted to try again. My usual wormhole for getting back to Columbia Pike from the Pentagon City side is through the small underpass near the Pentagon. I’ll post a pic next time I use it.

Thanks – I will have to try this – I’ve been looking for a good way to get from Rosslyn back to Clarendon!

I went through 20 pages of this thread and was surprised not to find any mention of this I-am-sure-everyone-rode-through wormhole connecting Mount Vernon Trail and good old Crystal City. Well, here it is.
I rode through this wormhole today, and as requested by the wormholemeister LuisFilipe I hereby dub it :
“C2P2 Wormhole”
Well known by NOVA bike commuters and coffeeneurs but perhaps most beloved because it leads to “Friday at the Fountain” Happy Hours at Crystal City Water Park where there is live music and food kiosk specializing in Peruvian fare with a white llama out front, and a bike maintenance station out back. Hence, the name Crystal City Party [emoji322] Portal (C2P2). It is adjacent to the C2E2 wormhole described below in this thread
