Well if it all makes you feel any better I’m on vacation in Tucson, AZ and it snowed today! Big ploppy stuff for most of the day with rain thrown in for good measure. Yuck. I have also never seen so many strip malls in my life. This place has gotta be miserable when it hits 100+ degrees in the summer.

Bah, Tuscon is nice… compared to Phoenix…
I grew up in Phoenix, came out here and was scared of trees and green things for a long long time

Bah. Roads are nice and wide, it’s only muddy at the low creek crossings, though you do have to be vigilant incase you come around a cattle grade. I can’t wait to go back and ride RR620 from Cedar Park to 71, then to 12 down to Wimberly. Then do Loop360, and then 2222 from 360 down to Mopac.
You are making me homesick.

Next week’s trip to Austin you say?
Let me show you how its done.
1) Re-Book tickets for Austin March 1-4
2) Go here: http://bicyclesportshop.com/
3) Rent one of these: http://bicyclesportshop.com/about/road-bike-rentals-pg1451.htm (Sorry, second item on list is already taken)
4) Ride with MEEE!!!!!!!!Seriously though, if you wouldn’t mind scouting out some good routes/Strava segments for me, I’m only going to have an hour or two on Sat. and the same again on Sunday morning, so I could certainly use some help. KTHXBAI
Instead of a road bike rent one of these
http://bicyclesportshop.com/about/mountain-bike-rentals-pg1450.htmThen hit the Greenbelt via Zilker Park.

I want to see a couple of centuries out of you to justify this taunting.

Does two Metrics and 172 miles in 3 days justify it?
Today’s ride was a bit different. No beaches, mainly just desert and mountains.
Stopped at Skydive San Diego to get some water and shade. It’s in the middle of nowhere and I’d describe it simply as “Mos Eisley”.
1800+ feet of climbing in 6.5 miles with no shade…sure, why not?
The descent was probably more stressful than the climb up.

It’ll do. But I’m still mad about the taunting!

This deserves extra credit.

That does not look remotely freezing. Nominee #3 for least freezing riding. There will have to be some means of determining the winner. Highest temperature ride? Most miles in non-freezing climate? Best suntan/burn? I will give it some thought.

The numbers are correct now. Whew! I hated looking like a big cheat!
I accidentally double posted most of my rides this week and I’m actually quite pleased with the resulting gap I’ve put on Chris Randall.
I’ve corrected the error and sadly anticipating my advantage greatly diminished soon.

My Garmin was showing 85 in the desert yesterday. And I’ve got a nice red ring on my leg where I got burnt between the cuff of my knickers and the top of my socks. It looks pretty goofy, maybe I’ll post a pic

ParticipantCurious if the lady riding opposite the traffic pattern at Hains Point this morning around 6:30 is a FS competitor? It was nice to compete in the opposite direction for a few laps!

Plus Strava (and therefore Hozn’s rankings) probably wouldn’t recognize that as a HP lap, so what’s the point?
