ParticipantA three way substitution is taking place.
HANDICAPS
BEFORE :: AFTER
Team 1: 553 :: 561
Team 2: 555 :: 555
Team 3: 587 :: 587
Team 4: 570 :: 570
Team 5: 585 :: 585
Team 6: 570 :: 570
Team 7: 569 :: 569
Team 8: 570 :: 570
Team 9: 570 :: 570
Team 10: 569 :: 569
Team 11: 522 :: 572Okay, first let me clear that I was not inclined to do this but Shawn of the Dread came and biked circle after circle after circle after circle after circle around my house until I caved. Dont believe me?? Go check STRAVA.
Due to an unanticipated situation, John Fisher of Team 1 is out of the game. John Fisher’s handicap was 22. Greg Ba was originally on Team 1 I believe. Greg’s handicap is 30. Greg will return to Team 1. Late comer Robert Ochsendorf has a handicap of 80 – and is being placed on Team 11.
This actually works out pretty well for getting the teams all pretty much equal strength.
Dont like it? Wanna whine?? May I recommend biking circle after circle after circle after circle around Dread’s house – and placing it on STRAVA. :p

Sorry about your lawn. Chalk it up to the burdens of leadership.

Whoa, you’d have to put part of him on another team to keep the handicap… anyone know what he’s doing (besides cheating by riding in FL)? Century a day craziness?

ParticipantWOah…. is this is a double-century, using only Hains Point and Capital Crescent ??? http://app.strava.com/activities/37111794
Has anyone seen him out and about?

ParticipantThat’s Ben Jacoby – written up in the Gazette news article referenced in the previous post.
He’s still in high school – shouldn’t he have been in school on a Thursday?!
Kids these days….

ParticipantHe rode that 2xCentury with Dom from VietVelo – I don’t know him, but I think Pete and others ride with Dom with some frequency.

I’d be amazed if one of us *hasn’t* seen him out and about. Unless he only rides overnight.

Where does the article say he’s still in high school? Given his riding schedule, I doubt he’s in school.

ParticipantI get pretty bored after a few laps on Hains Point – I can’t really imagine doing 50 or 60, wow.

I stand corrected; the article says he’s 18 now and doesn’t specify if he’s still in high school (I don’t recall at what age most kids graduate nowadays).

ParticipantI’d imagine he’s done with HS but who knows.
There was a mention of him on Cyclelife’s FB page a week or so ago saying he was on his way to Hains Pt. (Just looked it up – the post was on Jan 10).
I have to admit I want to try to ride 1000 miles in a week sometime. No idea when I’d have the time though.

What the…!!?!? VIOLATION! OUTRAGE! We humble, gentle riders of Team 2 have been mid-decade redistricted into last place!!?!? Get hot water! Get some disinfectant! Get some iodine!!
I insist on an immediate, sham trial for all involved, followed by summary imposition of sanctions. In particular, I’m thinking we make Team 11 and its co-conspirators ride the rest of the competition at like 10psi or something to compensate for their mid-game tweaks to the tilt of the playing field, but I’m open to ideas…
[pause. couple deep breaths.]
OK, fair enough, handicapping this sort of thing is far from easy, and sure, Robert and the rest of the “highly” “paid” arrangers of Freezing Saddles have actually done a spectacular job making this fun and interesting for everyone. So even though I do still favor sham trials as a general proposition, I’ll drop my demand for that kind of perversion of justice and instead just promise that all of us from Team 2 will respond to this outrage on the bike paths and the bike lanes and the cycletracks, and respond with vigor.
[Kind of. *Some* vigor. You know, as much vigor as can be worked up over this sort of thing.]
