ParticipantI flatted on Wolftrap Road today and was putting the tire back on when a woman who had just driven by came back from her house and gave me a floor pump to finish it off with. Exceptionally nice; may her kindness be repaid tenfold.

ParticipantIt’s nearly criminal that I didn’t stop to get a picture, but i had the kids and a green light, but on R NW near 7th where DC Water is doing some construction, they’ve built a temporary bike lane because the regular one is blocked. They hand-painted the cyclist symbol and it’s awesome.

ParticipantI hope you can go back and get a picture. If not, it’s only a coupla miles out of my way and I could maybe get by Thursday to take one.

ParticipantMad props to the couple jogging on the King-Braddock trail yesterday afternoon who not only immediately moved to the right side of the trail at the sound of my bell, but called their free-ranging dog over in front of them, commanded it to sit and stay which it was well-trained enough to do until after I had passed.

ParticipantTo the cyclist who told me that I dropped a glove on Jefferson Dr. as he passed me just after the 14th St. crossing a bit after 8:00 this morning, thank you! I only had to backtrack a 100 yards or so, and there it was.
Otherwise, I probably wouldn’t have noticed until it had been pulverized by street traffic.

ParticipantTo the guy on his bike this chilly morning wearing shorts and clipless sandals: Damn. You go, dude!

You talking to me?
Today was quite nice. Almost 20 degrees warmer than the morning of the 26th, when my ride (shorts and sandals) was right at 32F.

ParticipantThe fox costume that LeprosyStudyGroup made for my bike is so amazing that I decided to keep it on my bike through Halloween. (See pics of the foxes here.) I’ve gotten a lot of positive comments from complete strangers over the past week, but this evening’s interaction was particularly memorable.
I was waiting at a traffic light in north Old Town, and a driver pulled up next to me with his window rolled down. I reflexively expect verbal abuse in these situations, so I was pleasantly surprised when he said, “Can we take a look at your bike? It’s super cool!” He wanted to show the fox to his two boys in the back seat. I gladly showed off my fox and wished them a happy Halloween.
TL;DR: LeprosyStudyGroup’s creative genius promotes intermodal harmony.

Were you somewhere around Rosslyn on the Martha Custis? Then yes.

No, so there is more than one of us that are still wearing our sandals. My commute yesterday was Crystal City to the Mall via MVT and 14th St Bridge.
I enjoyed sock free cycling for all of October.

ParticipantMe: Just starting back up the Capital Crescent Trail a little after 9:00, after stopping to hook my phone (which had died) up to a portable charger.
You: Appearing at about 1:25, you were the most reflective cyclist I believe I’ve ever seen.If only everyone on the CCT were that easy to see at night!

ParticipantIt’s like watching one of those paranormal tv shows. How can we not be sure that wasn’t the ghost of a cyclist who fell victim to Mackie, the Potomac Bear Monster?
