Dickie
ParticipantFriday was an awesome day: Dirt gifted me a new flask to replace the one that shook out of it’s holder somewhere on the WOD last month. Consularrider took the liberty of filling it with scotch before delivering it to FCCII (which allowed us to spike our coffees). Then when I got home that night I found a package from Trailrunner who had sent me his old Oakley M-Frames for free to replace the ones crushed last weekend. You all rock my world and made this an awesome end to a grumpy week. Cheers!

ParticipantNow I regret coming to FCCII late.

ParticipantThanks to the gentleman on the CaBi bike who stopped and helped me readjust my saddle after my little spill near the Jefferson Memorial.

ParticipantYou: matte black Felt road bike headed SB on the MVT
Me: following about a bike length back at the parking lot entrance to Gravelly Pt.
You: slow to a stop after the car at the stop sign waved us through.
Me: profusely apologizing for bumping your rear wheel – I saw the driver wave us through and figured you had too. I grabbed a handful of rear brake, but not in time. Seriously, My Bad! no ill will I hope, and wished you a happy new year. Not my best day on the bike…

ParticipantMe: Hauling the kids home from school on R NW
You, coming up next to me at the light: “That’s beautiful, man. If my camera wasn’t buried in my clothes I’d take a picture”.My ride home was really nice today. Got called “hard core” by a mom at the kids’ school (who is, herself, hard core with her new Yuba Mundo) for riding today. And then chatted with a guy on 11th NW who has a kid at the school that was next door to us last year before our school moved. Doesn’t make up for missing happy hour tonight, but it helps.

Are we on a team again? Works for me. I feel like this is a team that can be talked into some ridiculous team rides.

ParticipantMe: cyclist who sloooowly crossed the 14th Street bridge tonight while struggling to deal with the fierce crosswind blowing south.
You: much faster cyclist who safely passed me after we got to the Virginia-side ramp for the bridge. As you passed and headed south, you called out with gusto, “Finally, time for some tailwinds!”Actually, I couldn’t hear you too clearly, on account of it being windy and all. But I want to believe that’s what you said, because it made me laugh at a time when I really need a laugh. Thanks, and I hope that you found your tailwind.

ParticipantThis evening I decided, on a whim, to take the long way home (Gravelly Point –> 4 Mile Run –> WOD). At the Weenie Beenie light I caught up with a cyclist… and discovered it was KayakCyndi!
I had been in a PM discussion with her to seek opinions about her Volagi. So she just hopped off and let me ride it for a few kms to get the feel of it. Fortune would have it we are exactly the same height so she was able to ride my commuter without any issues. She was less than impressed with the Tank – aka Jake the Snake with cantis and panniers – for some reason.
I, on the other hand, was very impressed with the Volagi. Evil thoughts on N+1 (and potentially dangerous maneuvers for my bank account) are now swirling around in my mind…
So thank you very much Cyndi for letting me try out your bike and riding with me on a cold evening! Grazie! 😎

ParticipantJust want to say thanks to the guy who stopped to cover that downed tree with a white tarp last night on the Custis near the 66 crossing. Sorry for not to offering to help (the wind was obviously posing a challenge) – total brain fart on my part!

ParticipantYou: The one (1) person out of six who passed me tonight who called your pass. THANK YOU!
As for the other five, well… bless your hearts.

ParticipantThanks to the guy eastbound on W&OD tonight around 5:30, between Cedar and Gallows, who warned me my light was too much. And sorry–I had it on for the street and didn’t think to turn it off or divert it when I hit the trail, but did after your warning!
