    Hey fork folks,

I have a problem with a bike I’m building up (a steel touring disc brake frame from Nashbar that will be here in about a week).

I ordered this steel disc brake fork fork to go with the frame but just found out it’s on backorder for about 3 months (!!)

In a part swapping exchange I ended up with an almost new Hylix full carbon 29er fork and a set of 29er disc wheels. The problem with this fork is that it has no eyelets for fenders (which is why I ordered the steel fork from Nashbar). I planned on selling this along to someone who needs it.

Obviously, I can’t wait 3 months for the fork I want to come in so I am looking for ideas/thoughts on attaching the front fender to the carbon fork perhaps using a P-clamp (the fork arms are pretty big) or perhaps some other way to attach the front fender to the fork or quick release?

Or, I guess I can try to find a different touring/cross steel fork with the fender mounts I need at a similar price ($50). So far, no luck on that in my online searching.

Any ideas out there for a guy who doesn’t want to pay more for the fork than the frame?

    A couple of thoughts:

    1. Zip ties might be better than steel p clamps which could have a tendency to gouge into the soft carbon fork

    2. Or you could get these fenders which could work, Planet Bike Speedez Road Fender

I’ve had experience of the MTB version of these and they do the job. Zip ties are needed to stop them flapping around.

Yeah, bare p-clips would be bad…I would try them with rubber spacer strips as a cushion (like the strips that come with some headlight mounts), which may give better hold strength than zip ties. Also, it looks like you can buy p-clips pre-rubberized: http://www.bikewagon.com/dimension-seatstay-rack-clamps-for-14-16mm-seat-stays?CAWELAID=1889632382&ds_e_ad_type=pla&CAGPSPN=pla&catargetid=400006350000357719&cadevice=c&gclid=CjwKEAiAoJmlBRCxjKeizPHVs1ESJAC6cxjULLPDUbTmj0SGZu4Yt5iaLgkr6qx8hW4Lwb_OJGGewBoCNnbw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds
