I saw posted on Paul Lagoy’s Facebook page that Dzhoy Zuckerman, a member of our DC-area bike community and a Freezing Saddles alum was robbed and murdered overnight in DC. Absolutely shocking and horrible. See a copy of Paul’s post below. Story also covered on News4 today.

FYI – there’s a memorial ride in their honor tonight (Sunday 7/16) leaving from Conte’s in Navy Yard a 5PM. Also, on Thursday (7/20) there’s a ride from Dupont Circle up to where they were murdered, for the installation of a ghost bike.

Dzhoy was on my Freezing Saddles team this year. They added so much light, life, and energy to everything they were involved with, and their murder is so sad and so unbelievable. I hope many of the Freezing Saddles community is able to join in on the Dzhoy Memorial Ride this evening… I’ll be there…

Washington Post Article: Biking fixture fatally shot in Northwest Washington, police say

I rode with Dzhoy only once and was immediately struck by his passion and energy. Such a terrible thing.

Good memories of one of our Team 10 Freezing Saddles events:

I didn’t know him but what sad news. I am sorry for this loss to the local bike community and so sorry for his friends and family.
