DDOT currently has a survey seeking public comment on the dockless pilot. It’s available at: http://sgiz.mobi/s3/Dockless-Bikeshare-General-Survey

I provided feedback that dockless bikes and scooters should continue in DC. Jump bikes in particular are great and should be allowed to expand. The other bike companies have some work to do on the quality of their bikes, responsiveness and accessibility to taller riders. The dockless scotters seem to be super popular and should be allowed to expand. DC needs more bike parking.

Lyft are looking to buy DC’s Capital Bikeshare owner Motivate, a Wired article suggests Motivate’s bikeshare contracts won’t stop cities experimenting with DoBi.

How dockless is done in Zurich. Like everything Swiss, neat and organized. It’s easy because pretty much every intersection has a bike rack. The transit center had an indoor bike garage on the lower level, full of double-decker racks and free to use.

Also they have roads dedicated to bikes. The homeowners probably have special permission to park there.

Every town, even the smallest ones, had covered bike parking near the train station.

Why does Switzerland get to have nice things? Because they’ve made it a priority (and pay high taxes to support it).

Yeah, they pay out the nose. Not in the form of income taxes, though, or at least not in many/most of the cantons. Just *everything* else.

WTOP article “Bird scooters show up in Arlington — without county’s blessing“, the County says they’re considering dockless bikeshare including electric scooters, the DoBi companies shouldn’t be jumping the gun.
