Pete, it was good to see you at Kidical Mass! I wanted to say hi after the ride but you were gone in a flash!
September 18, 2013 at 1:26 am #981568DirtParticipantKidical Mass was AWESOME!!! Y’all are my heroes.
September 18, 2013 at 6:50 pm #981656jrenautParticipantI saw a giant pink trike coming at me on the PA Ave cycletracks and knew who it was long before I could make out the face. I should have stopped to talk, but I was carrying a giant backpack of groceries, and I’m on my way to get the kids from school. Next time!

Wasn’t it 15th St Cycletrack? Nice to see you, sir.
I saw Rod Smith cross 15th about 2 blocks later. I was half a block away and late to get home or I would have given chase.

Yes, it was 15th St. My encounter on PA Ave was with a u-turning taxi cab (shocker). I was in SUCH A HURRY to get the kids that I can’t think straight. We took the Burley trailer to soccer practice again, my smug-o-meter rating is pretty high this evening (tempered a bit by the 3 year old’s giant tantrum as we were leaving).
September 18, 2013 at 10:21 pm #981692americancycloParticipantI saw a recumbent coming at me in the distance this afternoon on the 14th st bridge and the little voice in my head went,”Pete!, Pete!, Pete!, not Pete “

I came across 14th St. Bridge around 3:30pm this afternoon. Didn’t see you.
September 19, 2013 at 1:36 am #981697Rod SmithParticipantTwo bents crossed the Potomac on the 14th street bridge this afternoon? Rootchopper? Trikes take the laid back to another level. I mean on a recumbent, you still need to balance. No napping on the two-wheeler! I wonder what would happen if Dirt on his trike with trailer and me on my diamond frame with trailer happened to be riding that narrow sidewalk from opposite directions at the same time. I get nervous passing oncoming traffic there without the trailer. I never ride the 14th street bridge with my trailer only because I’ve never had a reason to do so.
September 19, 2013 at 1:38 am #981699DirtParticipantThere are three tadpole trikes that use the 14th St bridge/MVT route home. We had us a convoy the other night.
September 20, 2013 at 6:31 pm #981876jrenautParticipantRan into Dirt again today, this time in the Bipartisan Security-Theater Constitution-Free Happy Fun Zone in front of the White House. Stopped to talk this time. Got jealous of his trike. At this point I’m jealous of how many of his bikes I’m jealous of. I need more bikes.
September 23, 2013 at 12:01 pm #981957scorchedearthParticipantI ran into dirt yesterday while making my way back from Leesburg just before I crossed the beltway on the W&OD.
I yelled, “Pete!”.
He replied, “Yo!”
We then continued on our merry old ways.

Nice to see you, sir. I’m happy that I have the trike to ride when I can’t ride a bike, but DAMN am I ready to be back on a 2 wheeler. I’m trying all kinds of combinations of things that will allow me to get back on 2 wheels sooner. The trike is better than nothing, but it isn’t a lot of fun to ride.
