The REALLY crucial issue here is that I have discovered that there are pink skully socks that match my Twin Six jersey even BETTER than the pink skully socks I already got to match my Twin Six jersey, so now I have to get NEW pink Twin Six skully socks to match my Twin Six jersey. HAVE TO. Also, they are on sale today.

    WHY IS LIFE SO HARD?

(Srsly, I should get some free socks or something for all that product placement!)

Every single day I ride I witness numerous stupidities from all types of cyclists. Running red lights, weaving, wearing headphones, riding against traffic, no helmets, no shoes, talking on phones, passing without warnings, passing two abreast, passing on blind corners, riding between cars, traveling too fast on the trails…. The list goes on and on. I tried for years to “educate” the offenders, or lead by example but it doesn’t change. To quote Tears for Fears (sue me), “People are People”. The same folks that care only for themselves behind a wheel, or in line at the grocery store are the same folks riding bicycles, you can’t change a culture by simply teaching cycling etiquette, although I applaud the attempts.

I drove my car today and find out that percentile of stupid cyclist on trails is much less stupid drivers on the road. I would say 5% comparing to 40%. So, I refer riding my bike on trails. I love to hang out with smart people. :)

I was driving on center exit lane of Dulles Toll Road to 495 N, a car from left most lane heading to 66 cuts in my lane at 45 MPH without signal. Luckily, there is no car on the right lane. Otherwise, we would crash hard.

I was on River road, some cars were speeding and swirl from lanes to lanes. While other slow drivers were texting, reading newspapers, and putting up the makeup. I haven’t seen anyone puting makeup with riding bike on the trails.

I tried. And I tried in front of a mirror. It is hopeless. I’ve given up makeup completely. Looks like I am going to have to go back to a paper bag.

BUGGER! I just lost my 80’s music trivia title.. I stand corrected and slightly ashamed.

now you must purchase and wear a kit based on this jersey and ride around for a day holding a sign that says “please give me my 80s street cred back!”

This doesn’t mean you should stop calling passes in your car!

You could have at least posted the link to that jersey

Hey! It’s relatively cheap — maybe it could be the forum jersey? (One of the reviews even states, “Probably the best cycling jersey on the market.”)

That IS extremely magical. It could only be bested if there was a Three Wolf Moon jersey.

Remember the “Multi” part of “Multi Use Path”. People use it for strolling, walking, running, teaching the kids to ride, leisure riding and yes, fast road-riding. No one has a moral claim greater than anyone elses; just because roadies are seen as elitist doesn’t mean they don’t have the right to use a MUP for race-training or just posing at being fast.

Now of course they have to do it safely, but it very well may be that the roadies definition of a safe pass and a leisure cyclist’s definition could be very different.

Not to be argumentative, but wouldnt it be more appropriate for a more well seasoned roadie to devolve down to the reaction speed of a commuter or liesure rider than expect a less seasoned rider to somehow come up to the speeds a seasoned roadie moving at high speed would expect. This isnt the tour de MVT is it?

I really like Twin Six designs but their jerseys just aren’t cut right for me. I’d own about 12 of them otherwise. The arm holes are cut way too small so it’s like a tiny person squeezing my arm. I’ve been meaning to make some cuts to the one I have but I can’t bring myself to do it. My lovely wife has put it on the list for a sewing experiment so we’ll see how that goes…

And that, dear children, is the real reason why cyclocross was invented. :D
