Better screen shot for above (I hope). This is showing the result of an aggregation query on a small set of test data.

Please note that out of loyalty to Team 19, which has recently adopted me (thanks, Kitty) I will soon add rides to the underlying data to show we are ahead!

It’s unclear to me how photos are populated onto the Freezing Saddles web page.
For instance, none of the photos I took yesterday on the coffee & doughnuts ride appear. Several of them were also posted on instagram.
Lately it seems the FS webpage would pick up just a single photo from each ride, but in this case it didn’t pick up any.

I’m having a similar experience. Last year, there was a “refetch photos” option, which I think helped if the site checked your Strava ride before you’d managed to upload the photos. But this year, I can’t find a way to refetch photos. There is a “refetch photos” column if you log in, but it contains only lines that you can’t click on. And if you click on the heading, it just reorders the rides.

Yeah, photos are pretty broken. This is due to a change in Strava API that just hasn’t flowed correctly into the code. There may also be Instagram API changes, as I have been seeing lots of Insta errors lately.

If the weather doesn’t get cold pretty soon, I’m raising the sleaze ride limit to 4 miles.

Preface: I hate Instagram. I hate the UI. I hate that Twitter made them successful and then they got bought by Facebook and Twitter integration went away. I get why this had to happen, but still.

The official Python Instagram API has not been changed in two years except to update the README to say “this code is no longer maintained”. They don’t maintain their Ruby API either, so at least they’re not discriminating in their jerkish behavior. If it were up to me, I would cut off all Instagram integration with the site. However, I try not to let my personal vendettas, as honorable and correct as they may be, interfere with other people enjoying BAFS.

I’ll see if I can fix it.

    So you’re admitting you’re a computer nerd.

Why deny the obvious? The laptop I’m typing on right now runs Debian Linux (with a Windows VM I use only to update the firmware on my Garmin). I’m actively developing at least five websites, only two of which have anything to do with generating any income. I currently have three Chrome windows open, with between 5 and 25 tabs open in each, plus an incognito tab so I can sign into a second Gmail account. I once updated a live production website using an SSH client on my Android phone with a Swype keyboard.

I’ve never used a punchcard, though. Not that old.

I took a class in fortran in college. I might have failed it. I didn’t get along with my professor.

We should get a group babysitter and do a Freezing Saddles hack night. We could get so much done.

Definitely in for that. I could maybe even convince my wife to host, then the kids can just bounce off the walls in the basement and no need for babysitters.
