I’d love to meet some other, fellow CCT commuters. Would anyone want to meet up for coffee or happy hour at some point? I do a reverse commute (Georgetown-Silver Spring) and could meet people at the Paul in Bethesda, or down at Mal Maison/Gypsy Sally’s. Let me know if you’re interested!

There’s already a coffee club happening on Thursdays.

I am certain that if you propose a HH in the Georgetown area, people will come.

That isn’t on the calendar…. When are y’all usually there? I’m definitely not out as early as the invite you posted.

Not a CCT commuter but, did someone say silver spring? We have a Tuesday coffee club at Kaldis. Our numbers have grown (lately it’s been slow with winter) and virtually every full length CCT commuter is there once in a while. It’s a good time and we try our best not to talk about bikes the whole time (but that’s hard). Silver Spring has lots of cyclist though you’d never know, we love expanding our numbers.

Yeah, y’all leave too early – I’ve tried to catch you before, but I can’t be up make it up to there by 750 pretty much ever :) I end my commute in Silver Spring, so it’s tough!

The EBCC – Early Bird Coffee Club – meets at Saxby’s in Georgetown at 6am on Thursdays. It’s on the FS Calendar along with all the other CCs.

Someday I will attend this coffee club, but only once.

I’m currently running a campaign to rename this the EACC for Early Ass Coffee Club.

Caitlin – I’d love to do a Crescent coffee club as well. I’m a reverse commuter too, but only part of the way — I get off the trail north of Chain Bridge and ride the streets to Van Ness.
Happy to meet in Georgetown or Bethesda or someplace in between, if we can find a location….but not at 6 a.m. :)
Does Bethesda have a coffee club? If not, does anyone have suggestions on coffee shops near the trail?

That’s great! Better idea that might be more convenient: What about BYOC, and meet up at the little park area just after the bridge as you ride into Montgomery County?

That would be fun, albeit more so on a mild morning that a cold one.

It’s the go-to site for CCT trail condition reports. The members are terrific about posting updates, giving tips, etc.

PAUL and Bethesda Bagels could be good choices for a Bethesda gathering.

Hi! I’m a CCT commuter too also headed in the reverse direction (I commute to Bethesda). In the morning I’m on the CCT quite early, but afternoons I hit it between 5-5:30. Maybe you’ve seen me? Bright fluorescent yellow jacket, orange helmet, black bike. I stand out for sure.

Recommendations for coffee, of course I’ll plug the Georgetown Coffee club on Thursday’s at 6 at Saxby’s because my friend Trey and I started it! Not practical I know, in Bethesda there is Paul, but I would suggest Quatermaine’s Coffee. It’s right next to Bethesda Bagel. There’s also a place down the street a little called the Fresh Baguette. It’s great. For a meetup though, I recommend Quatermaine’s or Paul, they actually have indoor seating. Bethesda Bagels and Fresh Baguette have no seating. Also, I’m biased for Quatermaine’s because they also open at 6 am! Malmaison would have been a nice choice, but it’s a coffee shop that opens at like 9 am (which is stupid as hell IMO). My advice, grab a coffee at Quatermaine’s, on your way out, go next door to grab an everything bagel with cream cheese to go, then finish your commute.

Also, highly recommend the Tuesday coffee club @Kaldi’s in Silver Spring. I’ve been to it several times and it’s a great bunch of people!

Come to Georgetown though! We’re a happy bunch!

Ha, yeah, happy at 6A??? Also, I must be blind, but that doesn’t show up at all on the calendar for me. How long are y’all there in the mornings? I usually am on the trail (forget if I said this) by 730 or so; and then around 430, 5-ish when heading home. I have a little black Surly and some absurdly large black Timbuktu panniers. Right now, I’m usually in a bright-blue parka or a black jacket, with a yellow reflector vest.

How about this: If interested, let’s do a coffee meet-up on Tuesday at the Bethesda Paul, 7:30A. If it works out, we can do something at another – warmer – time on the trail, by the bridge between MoCo and DC.
