Boundary Channel Drive Trail Is Open

The new trail connection to the Mount Vernon Trail on Boundary Channel Drive is now open. It provides a great connection between the Mount Vernon Trail and Crystal City and is a great option to bypass Gravelly Point when it’s busy.

Thanks. It looks great, so much better than using the little bridge from LBJ Memorial Grove to the Pentagon parking lot.

What’s with the picnic table on the little floating dock at about the 1 minute mark?

It looks like someone put it there a long time ago so they could picnic in the middle of the water. It’s in pretty rough shape. There’s also the remnants of a bow of a boat on the shoreline. I haven’t poked it yet to see if it’s able to be pulled out and removed.

The table might be in pretty rough shape but when I rode through a couple of months ago (pre official opening so had to navigate the jersey barrier) there was someone using it.
