The peace and solitude of riding along the Potomac in the dark.

The “solitude” aspect being interrupted and driven home this morning, with two separate ninja incidents. Why anyone walking, running, or riding at 3:00 a.m. on an unlit trail would not at least wear something reflective — let alone have a light of some sort — is beyond me. (Yeah, I know, I know, why anyone would be out riding at 3:00 a.m. is beyond a lot of people, too.)

LOL…I used to be on the trail at 3AM in my younger days but normally I had a nice young lady with me too 😎

First off, I am loving this…nice collection… (I thought I was the only one who still enjoyed watching the sun come up over the Capitol after all these years)

I love getting to work faster than if I drove OR took Metro…

Since it’s Valentines day I thought I would start the Cliche why we love bike commuting list.

    Here goes
    1) I love the parts of my commute that I don’t even know how to get to by car.

okay, now you go. . .

I feel the same way…I can’t tell you how many different ways I know how to get home, and how many new things I see/experience getting to not be in a car. :)

I love to feel like I’m cheating “the man” by using my commute to exercise.

Judging from the bike commuting demographics I’ve seen, perhaps we are “the man.”

    I love
    saving money,
    saving time,
    getting exercise,
    being outdoors, and
    most of all,
leapfrogging the cars and laughing at the drivers stuck in traffic!

    I hate headwinds.

I mean, I love beautiful sunny mornings and the hope of a tailwind on the way home. :)

Dude! Tell that to my CFO! He is always in such a bad mood in the mornings!

He’s a CFO. He’s supposed to be in a bad mood in the mornings… and afternoons… and evenings. ;)

Wait a second. You mean I can get away with being mean, harsh, uncaring, and rude if I have the letters C, F, & O behind my name.
    Huh.

That’s seems so much better than B, I, T, C… oh never mind.

    I do have a point.

Over the weekend I rolled over to Leesburg to see my best friend. After all those damn hills I commute over, the ones I hate. The ones I feel faint coming to the top of, the ones I give rude names like “My Best Friend’s Boob Job,” nothing on the W&OD bothered me. Either I have incurred permanent brain damage from a lack of oxygen going up those hills (in that case, I know *someone* else who is oh, in so much more trouble than I am, (climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro– Poohbah) or I’m becoming more “fit.”

    Be still my cold heart.

I love to stay at the Y.M.C.A, I love to stay at the Y.M.C.A…

Oops. Sorry. What were we talking about?

Oh yeah.. Your best friend. Have you seen her lately? She’s done gone had some more work done. It’s called Skyline Drive. ;)

But seriously folks… and almost on-topic:

Very cool that the hills you see during your commute help with the ones that you used to think were awful. Great work! It inspires me. :D

Keep up the good work y’all. I <3 Commuting. :D

I love getting about two miles into my commute so I can start feeling my thumbs again – damn low blood pressure. I could seriously wrap a foot of fluffy feather ambrosia around my hands and they would still get cold. More salt.
