Bicycle Fun Club: Christmas Lights Edition

I went to check out the National Christmas Tree and Georgetown Glow lights last night. The tree itself is quite stunning, and I really liked the design. I saw a few of the Georgetown Glow installations, namely the Prismatica one which I was most excited for. I made a video of what I saw:

Throwing it out there: since most of the light installations seem to be ending on January 1 and most people will be occupied on New Year’s Eve, does anyone want to go on a ride this Friday evening, December 30, New Year’s Eve’s Eve, to check out more light displays? Based on previous discussion, I know a trip to the Mormon Temple light display might be a little too much out of the way for a casual ride, but I want to see the rest of the Georgetown Glow installations. Also, if there are any interesting light displays in the Georgetown or surrounding neighborhoods, they could be included in such a ride. I’m still brainstorming but am looking for input.

Bobco – I’m in for a Georgetown Glow ride on Friday. It was on the candidate list for the rides I organized. With Christmas and New Year’s falling on the weekends this year I didn’t think there would be enough people around to attend.

• Meeting Place: Washington Monument (Capitol-side a.k.a. eastern side)

• Ride Length: 5.8 miles
• Ride Pace: Casual with multiple stops for photos/video

We’ll start at the Washington Monument since it’s been an established good location (Midnight Saddles & Bicycle Fun Club rides among others). We will use 15th St NW and R St NW to get into Georgetown and see all the installations. I purposefully selected the route so that we would see all the installations with low discomfort and end at the Prismatica installation which is my personal favorite of the light installations and happens to be in Georgetown Waterfront Park which is an easy location to get home from.
