The Friends of the Mount Vernon Trail signed a partnership agreement with EDCO on Friday. EDCO is the manufacturer of the machine we use to remove trail bumps from the Mount Vernon Trail. We’ll be using their new PCD drum to remove bumps from the trail which is 2-3 times faster and also leaves a smoother surface.

The folks at EDCO gave us a tour of the factory in Frederick, MD when we picked up the PCD drum. This pretty much sums up our tour of the factory: https://youtube.com/shorts/PQgJILDUJLo?si=2qJOVk4aJgkbBeIk Make sure you “bump” the like and subscribe button on our YouTube.

FoMVT removed 57 trail bumps today with the new drum.

A couple new videos of trail bump removal:

Finishing the bumps between Fort Hunt and Riverside Park: https://youtu.be/3oYGFWemWrg?si=bc_h8ZQH7ukXbvLM
Removing the bumps south of Trollheim: https://youtu.be/z_VO4FD129w?si=WAKsxM-T9Z_BCHCq

All of the bumps in Arlington County have been completed except for 4 bumps north of Trollheim. Unfortunately the cord for the generator that powers our vacuum snapped as we were starting work on them.

Head over to mountvernontrail.org if you want to volunteer or donate to support the work.

Rode the MVT from Rosslyn to the Memorial Bridge today. What a difference you and your team of volunteers have made in smoothing out the trail. Thank you

The awful patch of bumps south of Trollheim are now gone. We managed to break the plug to our vacuum and the pull cord for the generator in the process. Check out the video and give us a like and subscribe.

If you appreciate the work and want to chip in a few bucks to keep the bump removal equipment working, head over to https://mountvernontrail.org/donate

If you’ve ridden the MVT near Collingwood Park in the past year, you may have been victimized by the gnarliest bump on the trail. It was basically like riding over a curb. Two weeks ago it caused a pinch flat to the Friends of the Mount Vernon Trail equipment trailer, which meant we had to completely unload the trailer to fix it.

On Saturday, we got our revenge. Check out the video and don’t forget to “bump” that like and subscribe button.

FYI, at the WABA/BPAC Alexandria candidates night on Monday, there was ample praise for Friends of the Mount Vernon Trail.
